  • Starbucks has launched it’s summer game for 2020. It’s a virtual board game and you can receive plays two ways:
    • Make a Purchase at Starbucks Using a registered Starbucks Card
    • Submit the entry form, no purchase required
  • You’ll also receive one play for registering and viewing the ‘onboarding’ experience.

The Fine Print

  • The Promotion begins on July 21, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time (“PT”) and ends on August 23, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. PT
  • Each Entrant may earn one (1) game play during the Promotion Period for registering for the Promotion/viewing the Onboarding; each Entrant may earn up to two (2) game plays per day during the Promotion Period by either making up to two (2) purchase transactions with a registered Starbucks Card or App; or up to two (2) “free” requests; or a combination of the purchase and free entry method for a total of two (2) plays per day during the Promotion Period; and each Entrant may earn one (1) bonus game play for either making their first purchase or requesting one (1) “free” bonus play.
  • There will be two million one hundred thirty-five thousand (2,135,000) random, computergenerated winning times, one for each prize listed below, during the Promotion Period. For the Third Prize, there will be one hundred fifty thousand (150,000) random, computer-generated winning times during Phase 1; for the Fourth Prize, there will be one hundred sixty thousand (160,000) random, computer-generated winning times during Phase 1; for the Fifth Prize, there will be one hundred sixty thousand (160,000) random, computer-generated winning times during Phase 1; for the Phase 1 Prize, there will be two thousand five hundred (2,500) random, computergenerated winning times during Phase 1; for the Phase 2 Prize, there will be two thousand five hundred (2,500) random, computer-generated winning times during Phase 2; for the Phase 3 Prize, there will be two thousand five hundred (2,500) random, computer-generated winning times during Phase 3; for the Phase 4 Prize, there will be two thousand five hundred (2,500) random, computergenerated winning times during Phase 4; and for the Phase 5 Prize, there will be two thousand five hundred (2,500) random, computer-generated winning times during Phase 5. If you are the first player to play the game at or after one of the randomly generated times, you will be a potential instant winner of the prize indicated.

Our Verdict

Most common instant win prizes will be 10 or 25 stars, not a lot but you might get lucky and win one of the bigger prizes. You can also enter for free so that’s nice. I’ll repost this once the promotion goes live. If you’re making Starbucks purchases then remember to stack with these deals:

  • FYI, the 2021 summer game begins on July 21, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time (“PT”) and ends on
    August 22, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Notable prizes this time include a pool floatie, a Bose bluetooth speaker, and $100 gift cards.

  • Overall disappointing. Got two 50% offs on the first day, and maybe 100 total stars after that. Nothing else.

    The 50% barcodes don’t seem to scan well either.

  • Final tally: 240 stars, two free iced drinks, two 50% iced tea/Refresher coupons, three 50% off Frappucino coupons.

    • I won twice on day 1, nothing since then. In their prior games I'd at least occasionally get some stars.

  • After winning almost every day for the first week, it's now gone cold. I think stores are starting to promote it now, and once someone at a store knows about it, it's not much of a stretch for them to get their free two plays a day.

  • There seems to be an OMGuava world of goodness Bonus Play in the drop down. I won enough stars for a free drink and then my fun was over. P2 only needs 4 more stars to have enough for a free drink, but it is looking doubtful.

  • Also, there appears to have been a massive nerf in the prize rate on 7/26, roughly about the time of the email downtime, so the downtime is probably due to their server patching.

  • After the earlier email downtime I tried to experiment with sending out 2 extra emails so as to "save" the signup for the next day.

    However, all emails generated on one day expire when used the next day, so this tactic does not work.

  • Is there any skill involved in the game? I cant seem to direct the ball wherever I click...

    • I think it's random, but who knows. It makes you think there is skill but I kind of doubt it.
