[Expired] Chase Sapphire Preferred 90,000 In-Branch Signup Bonus

Update 6/6/23: Chase sent out a memo to their bankers that the 90k branch offer is ending on Saturday, June 10th. Image below. Beginning Sunday June 11th, the branch offer will lower to 70,000: 60,000 after spending $4,000 within the first three months and additional 10,000 after spending $6,000 total in the first six months. That’s still higher than the online offer of 60,000 points.

The Offer

Chase sent out a memo today to their bankers about the following branch offer which begins on March 19:

  • Signup for the Chase Sapphire Preferred and get 80,000 points after $4,000 in spend within the first three months, plus an additional 10,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 total on purchases made in the first 6 months. Total 90,000 points bonus possible.

Card Details

  • $95 annual fee (annual fee is not waived, per reader reports)
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Primary car rental insurance
  • $50 Annual Hotel Credit. (This is per cardmember year, rather than calendar year. Must be booked through the Chase Travel Portal.)
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 5x on travel booked through the Chase Travel portal.
    • 3x on Dining/Streaming Services/online grocery (excludes: excluding Target, Walmart and
      wholesale clubs)
    • 2x on travel
    • 1x on all other purchases
    • 10% Anniversary point bonus. When you renew your card Chase will offer a 10% bonus spend. For example if you spend $25,000 you’d earn 2,500 bonus points.  This is award after the annual fee is paid. This doesn’t apply to the sign up bonus.
  • Transferable points
  • Redeem points on Chase’s travel portal at a value of 1.25¢ due to the 25% travel redemption bonus
  • Not eligible if you’ve received a sign up bonus on the Sapphire Preferred/Reserve in the last 48 months (standard is now 48 months)
  • Chase 5/24 rule applies to this card

Our Verdict

Current offer is 60,000. We once saw 100,000 points offer in 2021 and we’ve seen 80,000 offers too. This new branch offer comes pretty close to the top at 90,000 points, though we haven’t heard that the annual fee will be waived with this offer.

The wording of the internal memo sounds like the 90k offer might eventually become a public online offer, and then possibly it could become available via referral links as well. It’s always a guessing game as to whether to wait it out or just jump on the offer available at the time. (It might be possible to apply in branch and get the referrer bonus applied manually, but I’m not certain that’s true; it might depend on the banker’s knowledge, in any case.)

We’ll add this to our List of Best Credit Card Signup Bonus Offers.

  • Any idea if they are offering something worth the hassle in branch? is it possibly per State or branch? how to know if I am targeted? thanks.

  • I called 8/23/23 and it's a 60,000 point bonus plus a 10,000 point kicker for in-branch sign-up. I think this should be pulled down, since it's too far from all time highs of 90k, or 100k.

  • Applied in person. Conformed 90k offer. On the website it says 80k. customer support says I have but the extra 10k and the new minimum spend will only appear of the 80k is met. Sounds reasonable given their stacking SUBs.

If anything I'll reply to their reaponse.

  • So I dont know what happened with my account, but i am not going to complain or question chase. There was an issue with my downgraded CSR that was preventing in branch from having the CSR or CSP in the card application portal. They told me to apply online for the 80k offer, and after talking to chase CS, they said they could honor the 90k offer if I applied online.

I applied online, then chase CS gave me an issue and said they couldn't match the 90k offer, aka the extra 10k. I escalated this and tier 2 rep said once I hit the 4k she would review my account, and then pursue getting me the extra 10k.

I hit the bonus this week and went in to my card bonus pending points, and I see 80k pending, and for some reason another 20k pending as well both as "+New card bonus".

I guess I got 100k somehow from this whole fiasco? Transferring them to P2's CSR once these officially post. What a win.

  • The tracker (at the reward points) shows only 80k. Anyone know how to verify about the 90k?

    Tracker says this:
    New account bonus

You did it! You’ll receive your 80,000 bonus points with your next statement.

    Gauge Chart Accessible Name
    Amount spent
    $4,000.00/$4,000.00

Applied in the branch (may 30) and the banker shown me the screenshot that said about 90k while in the branch

      • I spend 6k+. Tracker still said 4k but the spend of additional 2k rewarded with 12k points (instead of just 2k).

    • I'm in the same boat, though I didn't see visual confirmation from the in branch rep. I also see the 80k/$4k spend tracker with end date. The 90k was an extra 10k/$2k spend more over the first 6 months. I'm curious if that will pop up in the tracker after the 80k bonus is completed.

  • Approved on last date in branch. Selected paperless mode for disclosures instead of paper. After approval When I asked for the bonus offer print confirmation print out Banker told me I opted for paperless so there wont be a print out, document will be available in Chase app.
I checked Chase app document center and find no such document. Is this how others' experience has been ?

    • No document, but it is stated (countdown) in the app when do I have to have my minimum spent in order to get said bonus.

      • @guest_1632807 thanks.
There is no tracker in the app if I expand into this particular card.
Is there a lag usually or am I not looking at the right place I am not sure. Where exactly is the tracker displayed ?

        • In the app, tap the card in question. Then tap "Show details ˅"

Scroll down to "Rewards and benefits" and tap the > arrow on the right-side of the screen. This is where the New account bonus shows up for me on another Chase card (don't have the Sapphire).

        • DP: Applied 6/10, Expedited shipping arrived today (6/13). Activated card and tracker was already visible in mobile app. Tracker currently only shows the 80k/$4k portion.

  • 06/02 downgrade csr to cf
06/09 inbranch apply to csp failed since chase still saw csr and told to apply 30 to 60 days later
06/10 made min payment to some cf purchases, inbranch apply again to csp success, pulled TU

  • I'm in TX. Not sure why I'm being double pull from EX and TU. Previously Chase only pull EX when I was in CA.

    • Chase usually double pulls; the two bureaus they pull usually vary by state. Back when I was in IL, it was 100% TU + EX for me across 5-6 cards. If you were only single pulled in the past, I would call it luck.
