Our Verdict

I didn’t find this deal last time, but I see this one; hopefully that means it’s more widely available.

I believe the way this offer works is that you buy $100 or more in Mastercard gift cards along with $10 in groceries, in a single checkout, and $10 comes off the purchase. You should be able to buy $100 Mastercard gift card or a $500 variable-load Mastercard gift card to trigger the offer.

This is one time only, correct? you can’t keep buying more cards and triggering this repeatedly? thanks

You can, however, open more than one Stop & Shop card under different name/address. It’s not like any names are printed on the S&S card and the customer service just simply scans the card. You can always modify the card info online. Just to make sure after you get a new card, register online and then load the offer into the card.

How do you liquidate these 100 gift cards? The money orders are a pain. If I do too many split transactions the cashier will get suspicious. So unless the rewards are huge this is no worth it.

happens I liquidate them via Kroger. (for various money services loads, including m/o’s)

and I have 2 S&S member cards and see the offer on both cards. So this deal is not churnable but opening multiple accounts may get this deal again and again. S&S doesn’t seem to care about multiple cards linked to the same address and the membership physical cards will give to you at customer service counter right after you fill in your application as there are no names on it. Of course, opening multiple accounts in the same store will draw the cashier/customer service’s attention and even using different cards within a short time at the same location may not be a good idea as well. Also, not all locations would stack mastercard debit card especially for card amount $500 and some cashiers may not know buying gift cards with CC has been allowed again since late last year.

Last time the variable cards did not work but the $100 cards did. From Alex’s post above, it sounds like the same thing may be happening again.

I bought a fixed $100 MGC and the $10 came off. Also to note is that it has to be $10 in groceries BEFORE any manufacturer coupons. My out the door total was $106.xx after coupons and the $10 ecoupon.
And this time it appears to be less ymmv and available on all S&S accounts.
Also I would suggest based on past experience waiting 2 to 3 hours at least and at best 24 hours after loading the ecoupon to use it. While this time it worked for me about 3 hours after loading, last time it did not work on the same day byt worked after 24 hours.

Anyone know if this is single use or if it can be repeated?

Single use per account. Tried this deal today at Giant in PA – the $10 did not come off automatically, the cashier had to call supervisor who manually took it off my bill. Small profit – $4 plus credit card rewards.

Alex, Were you trying it on a fixed $100 or larger variable load version of the m/c ? Thanks.

Mine was a fixed value $100. I did add it just a couple of hours before the purchase, so reading other posts below, maybe that was the reason it didn’t work automatically.
