T-Mobile Adds Free Hulu Ad-Supported Subscription Benefit (Select Plans)

T-Mobile announced today a new benefit for select plan subscribers to get free ad-support Hulu subscription. They call it Hulu ON US. The benefit will start on January 24, 2024 and will run for 12 months. After 12-month you might need to re-enroll or will automatically get charged by Hulu.

Terms: Promotional code valid for 12 months of Hulu (With Ads) while you maintain a qualifying Go5G Next line or 2+ qualifying Go5G Plus or Magenta Max lines in good standing and register with account that received invitation.

Also, the Netflix benefit from T-Mobile (Netflix ON US) is switching over to the ad-supported Netflix version. This change is also happening toward the end of January.

  • What what what?!? Also, the Netflix benefit from T-Mobile (Netflix ON US) is switching over to the ad-supported Netflix version. This change is also happening toward the end of January.

First we get Amazon Prime taken away (former Sprint plans) and replaced with Netflix Basic and now it will be Netflix with ads?

    • In 24, it still amazes me that people don't know how to search the internet. "Firefox & ad-block".

      • I don't think an adblocker works for streaming sites? Those are usually embedded within the video I thought, unlike youtube for instance

  • No clue what TM is doing with my ONE plan

Netflix Standard with Family Allowances ($8.50/mo. starting on 1/24/24)

    $4.50/mo

    + tax

    • I see the same thing. I remember when I changed from Simple Choice to the One plan, the standard Netflix was included. Wondering if we can get the ad supported plan for no cost going forward or if we are stuck paying $8.50 per month for the Standard Plan?

    • I see the same change. They will only be crediting $6.99 going forward (cost of the lowest plan). The standard plan is $15.49 so the additional cost is $8.50.

  • Do you think you can pay 2 dollars for add on disney plus with free hulu? Currently I pay 1 dollar for hulu just so I can add on disney plus.

  • I’m on T-Mobile One w/ One Plus Promo. I’m at $166 for 12 lines. If you factor in the kickback promo, which has been at a minimum of $50/mo for the last 3 years, I’m at $116/mo for 12 lines. Also get Netflix for free and I guess now Hulu.

Never leaving t-mobile until they finally force me off of this.

    • Similar, I have 10 lines and average about $102-$112/month for OnePlus. I don't get as much of a kickback, though, usually only around $30/mo. I assume all with similar deals took advantage of the free lines during the pandemic.

    • Right there with you. I have 9 lines, home internet and insurance for 2 iPhones, and Netflix for $126. Would be $40 cheaper if my inlaws would forgo the insurance.

For those asking, T-mo has had a TON of "free line on us" promos in the last years (pre merger). That's how you get that many lines and such a low price.

      • Yeah, I missed the boat on those free lines, just didn't need them at the time. I am jealous of, and happy for, all of you who were smart enough to take advantage.

      • Best bang for buck is $15 business tablet line (unlimited data, 10GB hotspot). That's assuming you don't need voice calling.

Old price was $10 but they increased it. I have 2 such lines, only paying $20/mo. Pretty cool for unlimited data.

    • I'm not sure how you get Netflix free since it was never part of One Plus. I have One Plus, not so cheap as you, but don't get free Netflix.

      • T-mobile had lots of promotions over the years for adding lines for $10/mo for instance. The ONE plan was the best, so happy I'm grandfathered in on that.

  • T-Mobile should partner with American Express Platinum because they have become another coupon book service lol

  • It's absolutely baffling to me that people will pay money to be served ads. Just baffling.

    • Same. I'm mostly watching youtube on AppleTV and I can't stand ads. Using Yattee app to skip all adds (including embedded sponsor blocks).

If one is willing to watch movies with ads, there are plenty of free options already - Freevee, Crackle, Pluto, Plex, Tubi, etc.

    • This is a pretty baffling opinion. The average cable bill was $75 per month in 2010. Over 90% of households paid for Cable TV. I'd like to assume you were in one of those, maybe even just as a kid, but still in a household paying $75 a month to be served ads.

You want to rethink your stance on making an issue out of less than $10 per month for a streaming service with ads?

    • Baffling to me why some people pay extra money to not watch a few ads. Been watching ads since the 50's. Most of the ads that I watch now on streaming are one to two minutes. Minor inconvenience at worst. I have netflix for $83.88 a year with no ads by the way (thank you Verizon)

    • I feel the same way but I guess it depends on your tolerance for advertisements. I just can't stand them, but some people are just used to it from watching broadcast TV.

    • People paid $100+ for a million cable channels, what I estimate are about 50% ads here in the States.

Steaming, while on a stupid wrong trajectory, is still an improvement.
