T-Mobile International Plan Changes: 25¢ Per Minute & 56 New Countries

T-Mobile is making a number of changes to the international plan.

  • Starting on customers first new bill cycle following July 31st, 2018 calls within and between Simple Global countries and destinations (and from Simple Global countries back to the U.S.) will increase in price by 5¢ per minute (now 25¢ per minute up from 20¢ per minute)
  • Starting July 22nd T-Mobile will be increasing the number of Simple Global Countries from 154 to 210+. Full list below

Customers receive free 2G data in these countries and calls at 25¢ per minute. Users also get access to T-Mobile Tuesdays.

  • For international LTE data take a look at Project Fi (a Google company).
The Google pixel 2 is dual-sim (technically an e-sim for Project Fi and a slot for a physical SIM card) just in case the country you are visiting isn't covered.
In the US, they use TMobile/Sprint and US Cellular towers.
    Works in 170+ countries.

    • Kinda hoping the TW--ATT appeal merge would annoy ATT to giving ATT customers better things considered that they triple the fee and forced everyone to pay $10 for double the data.

  • These country additions pretty much brings to parity with Sprint which makes sense in light of their merger.

  • I’m not (yet) a T-Mobile user, and I’m trying to understand this post. It sounds like it’s both a good news story (more countries being added to the Simple Global category) and a bad news story (the cost of calls between Simple Global countries will increase). Did I get that correctly?

    • I think you got it right. Most will probably view this as a net positive though, since if you're like me, you're not making many (if any) calls over cellular networks while in a foreign country. The big benefit is you just gained access to free 2G data in many more places.

  • I think the list is incomplete. In May I drove through Andorra and had data service through T-Mobile.

    • Andorra is such a small country that I legitimately would not be surprised if you were just connected to a Spanish or French tower.

      • No, I got a standard welcome message from T-Mobile informing me that I can text for free and use data in Andorra. Just like the ones I got in Spain and France.
