Update 9/9/19: The program has expanded again and available nationwide starting October 6th.
Update: Looks like you get a 5% off code when you join and another 5% off code for your birthday.
Target has been testing a new rewards program called ‘Target Circle Rewards‘ in Dallas since early 2018. Target has announced that the program will expand to five new cities on February 19th. These new cities are:
- Charlotte
- Denver
- Indianapolis,
- Kansas City
- Phoenix
If you don’t live in one of the targeted cities you can change your location in app and sign up.Target Circle offers a base 1% back on rewards that can be used on a future Target shopping trip, with personalized offers offering a bigger percentage back. Unfortunately you can’t use Target Circle with a Target REDcard, meaning you either get the 1% rewards on Target circle or the 5% off from REDcard. Because of that I can’t see this rewards program being very useful for most readers.
Interestingly there are two unadvertised benefits:
- 50% off first year membership for Shipt
- Free next day delivery through Target Redstock

Does the free Restock delivery mean it's free for an order under 35$?
Wonderful! Another reason to slow down the checkout process at the store. How can it take me 10 minutes to gather my purchases and another 20 minutes to checkout, whether cashier or self checkout?
And if you want to pinch a few penny by cartwheel, your 10 minutes gathering will be 20+ minutes. But the prices on your target app are higher than the prices you've seen outside of the store wi-fi.
I've been using the app for Cartwheel/RED card for a while and it's quicker to checkout. One barcode collects the cartwheel and payment at once. Sounds like the new program will work similar with a single barcode.
I just signed up, and it says I will continue to save 5% off, rather than earn 1% back but I still get the other benefits. That’s cool I guess.
Does the 1% stack with gift cards? I can often get gift cards better than the Redcard discount.. either 5x UR at office supply stores or 10% with amex offer at Lowe's/Staples.
It should, though I don't have personal experience (signing up now). It seems to be a "traditional" loyalty program, 1% back on everything regardless of how you pay (except for using the 5% REDcard).
Can you confirm whether you save 1% on all gift card purchases with this?
I haven't had the chance to buy any closed loop gift cards yet, only done some open loop ones where it doesn't apply. It replaces the Target debit card, so getting 2% from your card plus 1% from this didn't really appeal to me in the long run. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. It is very simple to sign up, so if the extra 1% is interesting to you, I would just go for it!
Imagine the cashiers selling it. "Ma'am we have two great reward programs - one gives 5% off now and the other gives 1% off tomorrow. They are both so good I can't decide between them. Which one would you like to sign up for today?"
lol
Just entered my Phoenix (Scottsdale) zip and it says not available... Maybe I'm just too soon?
Same in Denver. I found this article, appears to be for February 19th.

I live in VA but you just have to change your store in the app to one in a Dallas zip code and close the app and re open and it should invite you to join. I load up on target gift cards each year when they sell for 10% off and then spend them down throughout the year so the 1% works out really great for me!
Same here. i still have a little $ from 2017 unused, so need to get spending
