- BBVA has recently sent out new BBVA American Express cards to replace the old NBA American Express cards they offered. If you activate your card by and spend $10 by November 30th, 2017 you’ll receive 1,000 bonus rewards points worth $10.
The Fine Print
- Offer only available to specially designated BBVA Compass American Express Card accounts.
- Offer is not transferable.
- To qualify for the 1,000 TripleDouble Points, you must: (1) have net Qualifying Purchases totaling $10 or more using your new BBVA Compass American Express Card post to your account between 11/01/17 and 11/30/17.
- Offer limited to one (1) 1,000 points credit per account.
- It may take up to 10 weeks for bonus points to be awarded.
- Account must be open and in good standing at the time the rewards account credit is issued to receive the rewards account credit.
- A “Qualifying Purchase” is any purchase, including an Internet purchase, phone or mail order purchase, bill payment, contactless purchase (purchase made by holding your BBVA Compass American Express Card or another device up to a secure reader instead of swiping your Card), or small-dollar purchase for which you are not required to sign, made with your BBVA Compass American Express Card, that is processed or submitted through the American Express payment system.
Our Verdict
I’m hoping we see frequent targeted spending bonuses to help replace the loss of the 5x periods this card used to have. We’ve already seen a few of these types of offers.

I don't think buying points makes sense for most people, I don't really like posting point sales but people keep asking me about it so I'll do a post about it.
