Our Verdict
Nice deal if you received the offer. I’m sure we will see the standard comments about Whole Foods being overpriced, but basically 50% back in credit should be worth it for most people.

"Save $10 on your next purchase at whole foods market". Does that mean I can just buy $10 and use the QR code and get $10 off?
So I just made two Whole Food orders - but got the email offer after those 2 orders - I'm assuming I still have to shop 3 more times to get the $20 back?
Whole Foods was previously overpriced but now they're more competitive. You can find decent sales now, plus the Prime Member perks are extra savings. Add credit card cash back deal such as the current 5% CB on Chase Freedom card. Yes a lot of the non-sale stuff is still expensive, I just walk through the whole store looking for the blue prime tags or yellow sale tags.
Their in-store 365 brand is cheap and high quality. If you stick mostly to that, you'll do well. And it's my only real option for grocery delivery now with a high-risk pregnant wife.
It was always expensive if you went there to buy organic raw almond butter, manuka honey, and grass fed steaks, as those are just expensive items whenever you can find them.
The produce has usually been competitive at the quality level when you're shopping... apples to apples, if you will. But agreed that since amazon, I just shop for blue and yellow tags and get a good value, especially with the 5% and Ibotta doubling down on sale items.
Agreed. I grocery shop with both Peapod (now Giant Direct, same prices as in store Giant, and my delivery fee is ~$1 each time) and Amazon Whole Foods, and WF is very competitive. Takes just a few minutes to compare my cart items and purchase from whichever is cheaper. The 5% back and same day delivery are great, too.
My student prime just expired and the QR code says save $10 or more on the next purchase at Whole Foods
i got this offer and immediately thought about the gc angle, but read the tos. but, i just had a thought. do you think that they really will know if you bought gc? they do own wf, so it's a possibility. anyone tried buying gc w one of their offers?
Thanks for the heads up, got it on my spouse's Prime account. I got shop 3x, get $20. No minimum specified in the app but checking terms it states $20 minimum per trip. Only shop there once a month spending about $25 but a third trip shouldn't be a problem.
Am rather glad I didn't get targeted for this deal, spares me having to quibble with DoC's "but basically" confidence -- that "50% back in credit should be worth it for most people." Happens we have a WholeWallet here in Hoo'ville, and only reason I've had to visit there since their opening is like recently, with the freedom 5% off promo at Amazon/WholeWallet.... to buy certain gift cards..... So nice to visit -- pleasant folks working there, and of course the average shopper very well off and it showed. Yet I was hoping to find something -- anything -- to buy so that my purchases wouldn't be.... ummm... of a certain flat amount. Spouse was with me and we both came away with sticker shock.... Prices on basic items we could find across the street at Kroger more often than not 50% or more HIgher....
So even if I get this promo, if I can't use it on gift cards, it's be a hard pass. (with special sarcasm)
I been to many Korgers and Whole Foods. Kroger might be cheaper on most things and on average cheaper across the board but there are still things at Whole Foods (especially Prime/Sale) that are competitive...
besides, the current Amex "small business" promo is also "half off" -- except we can use that (10 times for each of us) at local mom & pop grocery outlets, where the prices aren't so off the charts to begin with.... I know, the whole-wallet crowd will look down at us driving our mere 20 year old toyotas and vans.... and tell us to eat cake. ;-) Suit yourself.
You can also use the AMEX deal to buy Amazon GCs, and spend at WF.
My deal requires shopping 3 times
I got my email but I would need to get on a plane to get to the nearest Whole Foods.
