Our Verdict

Seems to be predominantly showing up for people with the American Express green card, I wonder if that has anything to do with the rumored refresh coming to that card or if it’s just coincidental.  Strong offer if you can take advantage of the benefits the card offers and if you’ve had the card before. If you haven’t had the card before my recommendation would be to wait for a 100,000 point offer to come along that you’re eligible for. If you have any questions about upgrade offers, please read this post before asking any questionsGeneral American Express questions are likely answered here.

  • @will @chucksithe I received it today, it is NOT for platinum, its for Business Platinum. When I first saw it I was excited as it did not say my business name, then I opened it and it is for Business with 20K spend.

    • @guest_751021 @will @chucksithe

sadly I have to confirm the same thing. the email was misleading and really made it seem like it was personal Plat. lack of mention of my business also made me assume further. damn. what a shame.

    • For me, 75000 MR for $20,000 spend minus $550 annual fee is not a good deal. The perks aren't worth anything to me. Plan to cash out via schwab. By my math, that's (750*1.25)-550=$387.5 for $20,000 in spend. That's aroud 1.9%. I can do better on citi double cash. Given that the perks don't have value to me, is there something I'm missing?

  • Looks like the 75K offer might be multiple tiers as it says "UP TO 75,000". Probably something like 50K with "x" spend and another 25K with "y" spend like the current Platinum offer

  • I received an email offering my business a second biz plat with a 75k bonus (50k/10k + 25k/10k). i already had 1 biz plat plus two more from upgrade offers

  • I just am now seeing that I will receive a mailer for 75k offer to upgrade to plat @will @chucksithe

  • I haven't had the Platinum card before. To maximize the gain, can I sign-up for 75k Platinum offer and then use this upgrade offer to get second Platinum for 60k? Any DP on this? Does Amex allow 2 same Platinum card?

  • Slight variance. I am receiving the upgrade offer on my gold card. Only difference is, 60k on 5k in 3 months

  • Reverse happened to me. I had the 60k point offer and now only see the 25k point offer. I guess I waited too long.
