[Expired] AmEx Offer: Amazon, Spend $50+ & Receive $20 Statement Credit/2,000 Membership Rewards [Targeted]

Deal has expired, view more Amazon deals by clicking here.

Update 10/7/18: Multiple people are still getting this offer when registering a new Amex card (a friend got it during the card registration process, and reader Spencer got it within their regular Amex Offers). Keep an eye out.

The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • Get a 1x $20 statement credit or 2,000 Membership Rewards points by using your enrolled card to spend $50+ on Amazon before 12/31/2018

The Fine Print

  • Offer only valid on purchases made at Amazon.com and via the US Amazon mobile app
  • Excludes corporate gift cards

Our Verdict

I’d hurry to check your cards to see if you’re targeted because even though it’s a targeted offer American Express have a maximum amount of people that can enroll and once they hit that cap the offer won’t show up for anybody else (you only need to enroll, once you’ve done that you can take your time). Very useful ahead of prime day (July 16/17) and the busy shopping season. Although lets be honest $20 back on $50 spend at Amazon is always an amazing deal.

Gift card purchases are eligible for this promotion. Some gift cards options (our affiliate links below):

You can view our complete guide to saving money on Amazon purchases here. Keep in mind you can no longer earn JetBlue points on Amazon purchases, other portals only earn cashback/points in specific categories (best rates found here). If you’re purchasing something that doesn’t fall into one of those categories then please consider using our Amazon link instead.

  • In mine, the terms say "Excludes corporate gift card and custom-designed gift card purchases". Has anybody actually tried to see if gift cards work?

  • this offer popped up again for me when I had to cancel my EDP of a suspected fraud charge (it was actually a legit charge... oops) and when I got the new EDP card and activated through the login, this offer was available to me again.

  • Also just received this offer when confirming receipt of my new BBP and logging in. And yesterday I got the 10% off cable bill up to $10 when initially linking my card (before receiving it) to my online account. Neither showed on my amex offer prior

  • Husband and I both got this offer when registering our new blue biz plus cards online last week. I hope we get it again when our new metal gold cards arrive.

  • Is it still possible to load this offer to each of my cards (not including any AUs) or is it one offer per person/SSN?

    • There was a DoC article on this recently about "repeat offer" abuse clawbacks. If you do multiple tabs, or multiple logins open at the same time, it's possible to get the same offers on multiple cards. However, from what I seen, if you do the offers like a normal person, opening the offers page on different cards at different times, the offers go away on the other cards.

But, even if you pull it off, you might get an Amex nastygram, point clawback, and told you are abusing the system. Choose your own adventure.

  • Sad to say I haven’t gotten any offers since cleaning up my Amex offers page by adding them to just one card

  • Worthwhile trying re-registering a newish card. I had it pop up this way on my new Plat a month ago.

    • Prior to reading this comment, I decided to merge my two separate Amex logins today, and had this happen to me.

I did not have the Amazon offer before in my queue, but when I added the 3 month old Schwab Plat to my other Amex login, the Amazon offer appeared during the registration process.

I got two uses out of the $30 off $60 Amazon deal, so their has definitely been some value in having a good Amex relationship lately.

@will Thanks for posting these awesome deals!
