[Targeted] AmEx Offer: Homer (Learn To Read), Spend $9+ & Receive $9 Statement Credit

Update 11/1/22: Deal is back, but portal not available.

The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • Get a $9 statement credit by using your enrolled eligible Card to make a single purchase of $9 or more online at learnwithhomer.com by 9/18/2022. Limit of 2 statement credits (total of $18)

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid on purchases made online only at learnwithhomer.com

Our Verdict

So this is $9.99 per month and comes with a 30 day free trial. So basically you can get the free trial and then two months for $0.99 per month after the statement credit. Some portals also have this listed at $40 cash back, but the terms are somewhat unclear. I think this will trigger after the 30 day trial, but I don’t know that for sure. You can also use our affiliate link to sign up if you don’t want to go through a portal (makes more sense to go through a portal for a possible extra $40).

  • After multiple back and forth ticket messages, they sent me this...I'm starting to think that it's not TCB but HOMER that is being dishonest in the $0 payouts:

    Hi there,

    Thank you for sharing this!

Your claim is currently at the 'Ready to Submit' Status, please be aware that we submit claims in batches every few weeks to the merchant network that we work via and you will receive a message informing you when yours has been sent. We then have to wait for a response from the merchant network, this may take 2 - 3 months, but we will write to you on this claims thread when we have any updates.

If you have any questions please do contact us via this claims thread and we will be more than happy to help.

I do hope that this goes on to be a successful claim for you.

    Best wishes
    TopCashback Support.

    • From Dominique, they are making it right:

      Hi Elliot,

I have just checked, and since you have submitted the claim- I will go ahead and just add the $40 into your account as one time goodwill.

      Best Wishes,
      Dominique

      • I contacted Dominique and she said that was just only a 1 time thing.. and she's not reimbursing anyone else. :/

      • Yeah, this offer tracked on Amex but not TCB for me. Will try the claim process, thanks for sharing.

  • So I submitted a claim. Their CSR replied asking for an order number which is nonexistent because you can't find such info. The claim is probably not going anywhere. So fcuk TCB

    • Exactly the same situation, and they are trying to insist that it's only $20 CB, not $40. I wrote a message to them in my ticket stating that there is no order number and this was for $40 before they changed it to $20. I also emailed Dominique about it at promotions@topcashback.com with an explanation and screenshots and she told me to file a claim through the ticketing system.

I've generally never had any major issues with TCB in the past but they totally screwed this one up.

  • On TopCashBack it just changed to ZERO 0 for Homer.. this feels like a scam.

  • It changed to 0.00 payable this morning. Looks like I have to submit a ticket for this. TCB sucks :(

  • They just sent me an email offering a $5 Amazon GC for taking a survey. It was something like 6 multiple choice questions and took about 30 seconds to finish.

  • Got charged for my first paid moths and the Amex offer was not triggered. Surprise, surprise. Oh, and the TCB is still pending at zero.

  • Homer looks to be down to $20 on TCB but now they also appear to be offering a $20 Amazon GC through an email promotion to existing subscribers if you refer someone and they stay subscribed for at least 1 month beyond the 30 day trial. I can’t recall if the sign up process had a manual entry field for the promo code or if this would stack with TCB but here’s an example of HOMERs referral link (please delete this link if it is not permitted on this post): http://fbuy.me/tERwU
