Our Verdict
A few things to note:
- Usually purchasing gift cards at the front desk works to trigger the offer
- If your stay is after 10/25/2018 you can usually call in and get them to charge you in advance, this usually triggers the offer
Some people are seeing this on the SPG Luxury card as well. If you use the offer on that card then the room rates would be reimbursed under the $300 annual credit as well. So basically spend $300 and get $360 back.

Having trouble finding GC's at Front Desk. Anyone know if a purchase at the Hotel Bar would work. I spent $290 on a room and need $10 for it to trigger?

Would staying one night at a Marriott location for $220/night and then buying a $80 gift card at the front desk trigger the $60 credit??
Yes. There are multiple DPs of gift cards bought at front desk trigger the offer.
Does anyone have experience booking a hotel in Canada and still getting the Amex offer? Or that portion on the offer enforced?
No, the term excludes hotels outside the U.S. And I did book a Marriott hotel in Canada which did not trigger the offer. Probably the best chance is buying gift cards at the front desk of a participating hotel and make sure that you can use the gift cards overseas.
It worked. $300 back and $60 back on a $315 booking. Thanks.

Stayed at a Fairfield Inn for $155 and bought a $150 gift card at the front desk of a Marriott. Received email confirming offer use immediately after purchasing gift card.
It sounds like these were two separate purchases. Can you verify that you received the $60 back even though the purchases were separate?
Yes, these were two separate purchases on different days. The $60 credit has appeared on my statement.
Corporate locations sells gift cards. I bought 3 last week and all of th triggered the offer.
