The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • Get a one-time $30 statement credit/3,000 Membership Rewards points by using your enrolled card to spend $60+ in one or more transactions online at Sunbasket.com by 12/8/2017. Sun Basket is one of those food delivery companies where they send you all the ingredients + a recipe for the meal.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid online at sunbasket.com includes purchases via merchant mobile app.
  • Valid until December 8th, 2017

Our Verdict

Sun Basket is similar to other meal prep delivery services such as Blue Apron, Plated, Hello Fresh etc. Sun basket has offered an Amex offer of spend $70 get 3,000 MR or $30 before so this offer is better than that. If you use a referral link you can get your first three meals free (actually seems to be a flat $35 discount?). Pricing is as follows:

If it’s not your first order then the classic menu for 2 servings per week would cost $68.94, you’d end up paying $38.94 and getting 3 meals for two people or $6.49 per meal. If it was your first order then it gets a lot more difficult as you’d want to spend as close to $95 as possible and I don’t see any easy ways to do that. Update: Best solution found here. Let me know what the best option for that scenario is in the comments below. You can share your referral links below, but you must post something of use as well (e.g best way to maximize this offer, your experience with sun basket etc).

Does anyone know how soon SunBasket charges the card? Or, alternatively, how soon an order placed today can be shipped? Before placing the order, it just says it defaults to shipping 7 days from now, but delivery schedule can be changed AFTER placing the order. Well, I don’t know if it would let me change the delivery to ship ASAP (like tomorrow, Dec. 6) in order to trigger the Amex offer expiring on Dec. 8 (which I assume requires the CC charge to post by that date).

I just placed an order so it will be interesting to see. There is a $1 hold already, and I did request a Sunday delivery, but I may cancel as they didn’t hold the whole amount.

I have had close calls with other offers, not sure what to do, but will probably decide by the 8th!

Does anyone know how Sun Basket is coded in the posted transaction? Last time I tried Home Chef, it was coded as Grocery. Just to make sure to use the “best” card for that :). TIA.

Thanks

Here is a referral link to get $35 off your first order with Sun Basket: sunbasket.com/invite/Kris687099

The Amex offer has yet to show up in my Amex account, although previous Sun Basket offers have appeared. Perhaps I am not qualified for this current offer because I have used previous offers.

But the above referral link is still good. Many thanks to whomever uses it!

To stack first time order benefit and Amex, the best I could do was to choose 3 recipes/4 people (classic menu) and apply this 50% off code (A-FPCA50). The order total after discount would come to $68.94 (w/ free shipping) and that would allow Amex offer to trigger. They apply free shipping on the first order, otherwise the best would have been 3 recipes/4 people (family menu) which would come to 59.94+5.99. Perhaps there are other ways too to get closer to $60 with the 50% off code.

You found the sweet spot! Nice.

This worked for me, thanks Pag! I chose 3 recipes, 4 people, Classic Menu. With the A-FPCA50 promo code, and the first-time order free shipping, comes up to $68.94.

The first-time $35 off won’t stack with this though. Both discounts are applied via promo code, and you can only have one promo code per order. The 50% discount works out to be better than using the first-time $35 off.

Here’s my referral link in case the 50% expires sometime:

So this 3 recipes / 4 people sweet spot ends up what…$39 for 12 meals? Am I reading it right? Not too bad.

This is awesome info, thank you! $39 out of pocket for nearly a week of meals for 2 people!

As of today (Sat 9/23), the 50% off promo code still works (A-FPCA50).

TYVM Pag and DOC.

50% off (A-FPCA50) still working 11/3.

Total after promo and free shipping was $71.94. $30 from Amex offer brings it to $41.94 for “12” meals (probably about 8 for me) 🙂

Thanks Pag and Doc!

So, the question is: How to stack the $35 off first order promo with the spend $60 receive $30 AMEX deal?

2 people/3 recipes comes out to $33.94 (doesn’t meet AMEX requirement)
4 people (classic)/3 recipes comes out to $102.77 ($72.77 after AMEX deal–not that great)
4 people (family)/ 2 recipes comes out to $44.92 (doesn’t meet AMEX requirement)
4 people (family)/ 4 recipes comes out to $124.84 ($94.92 after AMEX deal–not that great)

There doesn’t seem to be a sweet spot for first-time buyers who are trying to stack the promos. Am I overlooking something?

When I got it through the Amex offer, I just did 2 weeks of 2 people/2 recipe offers. Of course, the prices were slightly different and the threshold was $70, so I didn’t mind spending 80-something for the 3K MR.

Hey Robert,

Pag came up with a good solution right below. I gave it a go and it worked well for me. $68.94 for 3 recipes/ 4 people.

Here’s my referral link to save an extra $35 off, which may help?

Unfortunately stacking referral and 50% promo isn’t possible, but thanks for the heads up Justin!
