The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • Get a one-time $30 statement credit by using your enrolled card to spend a minimum of $150 in one or more transactions with Turo at Turo.com.

The Fine Print

  • Must book directly with Turo
  • Cars must be returned by offer end date

Our Verdict

American Express basically has this offer every year at around this time of the year, although in previous years it’s been for $45 back instead of $30. If you’re not familiar then Turo is basically a service that lets you rent other people’s cars.

  • I only had 20 off 200 on one of my AmEx, checked Citi and had 25 off 150 so used that instead.

Love Turo btw, never had issues, so much better than car rental agencies for many reasons.

  • I've used Turo 3 times. Never had issues.

It's the airbnb version of car rentals.

Use good hosts so you know you have someone who has their processes and procedures streamlined and in place. It's cheaper than car rental companies but your car insunrance or credit card insurance may not cover if something happens

    • Credit gets pulled back if charge gets refunded.
Even if you spent $150 and got $30 credit and the merchant gave you $5 credit for something, you'll be below threshold and $30 gets pulled back,

  • how do they enforce "Cars must be returned by offer end date" condition? i just booked turo for next april, was already charged for full rental and received confirmation from amex. If "return by" is enforced then i wont get anything...

    • I used Turo last year and the entire rental was charged at the time we made the reservation. There were no changes after we returned the car

    • data point: credit posted after statement closed, way before rental start/end in april of next year

      • Not sure how Turo works, but it's possible the current charge is a hold and they will refund + recharge again in April. Then because of the refund AMEX will claw back. But please post DP after your rental in April.

    • Tired and posted as LAUNCH GIFT CARDS so I don't think it would trigger the offer

  • So much negativity. Turo is awesome. I've rented 8 cars and they're always within a 2-4 mile radius of my home. Great in a pinch when your car is down. No BS Hertz guy in a shirt & tie, just some person letting you borrow their car. Try the service, make sure you make some type of connection with the renter (it's their car) and then have fun! Only negative experiences post negative reviews!

      • You'll be fine. Just continue to follow-up as the trip gets closer. You can tell a lot about the renter by their communication skills.
