[Targeted] AmEx Offer: Various Local Restaurants, 5%-30% Cash Back

Update 6/19/20: Looks like more of these offers have been loaded now.

The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer

  • American Express has a variety of offers to local restaurants. It seems most people are being offered 5-30% back in the form of statement credit to local restaurants in their area

The Fine Print

  • Varies by offer

Our Verdict

It’ll be interesting to see if this is being powered by American Express themselves or if they are are using a third party. Might be worth checking to see if they are any interesting ones near you.

  • I’ve been using these on my Hilton aspire card. Getting paid to eat at these places!

  • These LOCAL offers typically have an address in the offer. They're different than chain offers.

Here's the only one I found so far (and I have no interest in frozen yogurt places) and see how it lists the address in the offer:

Get 50% back on a single purchase, up to $150
    Menchie's Frozen Yogurt - 732 Montana Ave

The above offers shows on all of my cards (since I haven't added it to any of them), and expires in about a month.

I also have offers for various chains, but they're different, no address listed.

In the past I've had a half dozen or so local restaurant offers at one time, so this with just one so far is not impressive, even if the discount amount is impressive.

    • Who is buying $300 of frozen yogurt? That’s a lifetime supply.

      • Yeah, I had that same thought when I saw a similar offer (the only one that shows up on any of my cards):

"Get 40% back as a one-time statement credit by using your enrolled Card to make a single eligible purchase in-restaurant or for takeout dining at [a local ice cream place - name and address] by 7/22/2020. Limit of 1 statement credit of up to $150. See terms for exclusions."

...why would anyone be spending $375 on ice cream, in a single purchase???

But I went to their website out of curiosity, and apparently they have an ice cream truck you can reserve for events. If you pick the 200-person version it's $550. So I guess it's not out of the question!

  • The best deal is $15 off $50 at California kitchen pizza, expires in 2 days.
There also dell deal, $120 off $599 on Green card

  • OK I found the email . I forgot that I had also gotten a $5/15 offer for Shake Shack. I bought gift cards the last time I had that offer. Sadly you cannot use gift cards in their app! I do not seem to have received a Cheesecake Factory offer.

  • I have none of these. Are these sent by email or do they appear in your cards like regular amex offers?

    • They appear just like regular Amex offers. FYI: It looks extremely local. The restaurants that show for me are only within a couple of miles of my address on file.

  • I got 5% off at PF Changs and 10% off at a bunch of Darden chains (Olive Garden, Bahama Breeze, Capital Grille, Yard House).

More interesting is a $10 off $50 at Goldbelly (can be used 3 times). Goldbelly ships from a bunch of well known local food places around the country (Gino's in Chicago, some good places in NY). They're pretty expensive but the are $15 and $20 off coupons and with the extra $10 off it's not an entirely bad deal.

  • Q: Name 3 restaurants I would never visit.

A: see new AMEX offers for Olive Garden, CPK, and PF Chang's

    Oh well. Maybe next time.

    • I think these offers are different from the local offers this post is referring to. For example, I got 20% a local (non-chain) Pho restaurant just miles from my place.
