Check your AmEx Offers for the following deal:
- Spend $300 or more online at Delta Air Lines and get a $125 statement credit. Expires 12/31/21.
The Fine Print
- Offer valid for purchases made directly with Delta Air Lines through U.S. http://delta.com, via Fly Delta U.S. App, and U.S. reservation telephone line.
- Flights must originate in the U.S., including U.S. territories, and purchases must be in U.S. dollars to qualify.
- Offer valid only for purchases where Delta Air Lines is the merchant of record, such as airfare, fare upgrades, seat selection fees, baggage fees, standby fees, and Delta Sky Club® memberships.
- Excludes the following: (i) purchases in-person at the airport where Delta is not the merchant of record, lounges, and sales offices, (ii) all purchases on-board flights including food, beverage, and WiFi, (iii) stand alone hotel bookings and car rentals through http://delta.com, (iv) purchases through third parties or affiliated agents, and (v) Delta Vacations®, Delta Dive, Delta Cargo, On Demand Charter services, Delta Flight Museum, SkyMiles® Marketplace purchases, SkyMiles Experiences™, SkyMiles Cruises, Delta Meeting Network, (vi) travel insurance/trip protection, gift card purchases, and charitable donations.
Our Verdict
Gift card purchases have worked in the past to trigger similar Amex Offers, despite the terms suggesting it’s not eligible. Not sure if the offer is different on personal and business cards like last time.

There is a new promo for a $25 Lyft credit for buying a $250 gift card. Do not use this as this is through CashStar (you will see the CashStar logo on the page).

I selected Physical Gift card and paid $300. with free shipping.
December 3 (FRI) – Purchase made, immediately showed as pending from “DELTA AIR LINES”, for both purchases. I never received an e-mail from American Express stating that I used the offer.
December 4 (SAT) – On AMEX website the offer moved from the “Added” tab to the “Savings” tab.
December 5 (SUN) – UPS My Choice reports new label created.
December 6 (MON) – Item is shipped from Tennessee 2-day air. Delta says I should have received an e-mail stating the item was shipped and received a tracking number. I never received any such email.
December 7 (TUE) – $125 credit posted to account.
December 8 (WED) – delivery expected

There’s a blurb on my email receipt:
“The charge will appear on your credit card statement as:
DELTA CSTAR GFTCD”

Was anyone able to use it to buy EGC and get $125 after the offer came back on 11/23?
Yes, I waited until after the 2x miles promotion, and logged into my Delta account and bought a $305 EGC. Credit posted two days later.

Just a reminder: DO NOT participate in the current x2 miles promotion, even on a desktop. It runs through CashStar and codes as “Delta Air Line GC” when pending so won’t trigger the credit.
