Our Verdict

There is a public offer of 40,000 miles + $100. Personally I’d probably prefer the extra cash at this point in time but I know some people will always pick the miles. , I’d recommend reading this post detailing everything you should know about their credit cards.  This won’t be added to the best credit card bonuses as it’s targeted.

  • There seems to be a targeted in mail offer for 80K miles.
Get 40,000 bonus miles and companion fare after $2k spend. Earn an additional 40,000 miles after spending $12K in the first 9 months.

  • Approved for the 50K / $2K spend version via an email offer. Despite being 15/24, it was Instant approval with a large CL.

    • Came here to report a mail offer received today as well. 60k bonus on $3,000 spend. More than happy to send photo to Will/Charles if they're interested.

      • I'm going to assume 60k isn't worth a 5/24, is that right in most people's minds? Maybe close to 50/50, and maybe very good if it's a main airline of yours and you have a west coast hub you fly from (we don't).

  • Wasn't there a public 60,000 point offer available recently, or is that just the COVID fog talking?

  • I just signed up using the 40k + 100 statement offer and received this targeted 50k offer in the mail. Can I use the 50k offer for my wife or is the code limited to me only?

  • I'm not the only one among my social circle to sign up for the CS Platinum card to CO all of my MR pts.

Pretty sad the COVID-19 situation has messed up everything, my trip and the trips I booked for my parents to come to my commencement are all busted. Now I'm stuck with Virgin Atlantic for 300k miles, could have been over $2000 of cash value. Part of it is even transferred from UR.

While I can try to rebook mine, I guess my parents' can only be canceled. And Amex doesn't do reimbursement airline fee w/ VS. Any idea if trip cancellation works for this situation?

    • What I suggest is first really look into some reports and news and decide for yourself WHEN would it be safer to take flights.

Personally, I don't advise on any before August ( maybe too pessimistic here, but at least I'm pretty much confident that this thing will continue going huge before the end of June)

Based on that, any airline credit card is more like a future investment here, and I feel just the same way as @will does, that cash is the best solution at this time. Miles can't be traded for food directly, but cash can.

Thx for being here DoC, and you all take care.

  • I do not think this is the case anymore for about a year now

“They will sometimes approve you for a Platinum Plus Visa or Preferred Visa card which has DIFFERENT annual fees and SIGN UP BONUS“

    • Having trouble finding a link but yes, that definitely got fixed, you can still get approved for the "lesser" card but the SUB is now the same either way.
