The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Chase is offering Chase Ink cardholders 5% total cash back on shipping and home improvement store purchases on up to $10,000 in spend until August 31, 2021

Our Verdict

Not sure if there are any other spending bonuses on other cards like we saw for January – March & April – June. Think this is the first time we’ve seen business offers via the mybonus website.

  • If you received the email, but Chase tells you you're not eligible when you try to register, try using a previous zip code. I moved 6 months ago and updated my address with Chase at the time.

Despite this, only using my previous zip code would activate the offer, using my current address zip code would just complain that my card is not eligible.

  • Anyone else running into errors? When I try to activate the offer on my Ink Cash, it worked. When I tried to activate my Unlimited, it errors out and says "Please correct highlighted fields." Nothing is highlighted though.

    • I ran into the same issue. If you're using Chrome, open the link in an Incognito window, and it worked fine.

  • wow.... thanx for the alert. worked for both our Ink cash cards -- AND -- on P2's Chase Biz, "United Explorer Mileage Plus" -- first time in over a year she's seen any promo spends on that card.... Taking screen shots of this one....

    • Looks like that's OK (but $7 fee on a $200 VGC is kinda steep):

(“Purchases” do not include balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.)

      • concur re. those $200 vgc. Yet as noted below, some Home Centers are selling a curious "Golf" mastercard.... (v/l up to $500, with modest fee) Appears you can use it anywhere. another possibility, some HC's also are selling grocery gc's...

  • Got this email for my Ink Cash. When I filled info on the link provided, I get an error. Not sure what the problem is.

    • I got an error as well. I eventually called in and got a CSR to add it over the phone, he said there must be. a glitch in the system as I was the second call in the past hour that he'd gotten with the same issue.

    • These offers sometimes take a while to get enabled. Sometimes you'll get the email first and the activation won't work, sometimes the activation will work but the email hasn't came yet. Best bet is to check back in a day or two, this happens every time I feel like.

      • Are you talking about VGCs? Around me the most they have at Lowe's and HD is $200 with a $6.95 fee. I can do better at Staples.

        • Home Depot = lousy. Lowe's nearest me has a single $500 card for a $6-7 fee (the one with a picture of a golf course). There's also a regional home improvement chain called "Fleet Farm" in my area that sells the $500 Visa or MC gift cards for $6 each.

          • About that "golf" vl mastercard, have you or others bought and used them? Encounter any issues activating/spending/liquidating?

          • Is it usually coded as Home Improvement for you? I tried purchasing 4 500 Visa Gift Card and got 1x on them.

          • Levin, if you see this, could you clarify please? You report only getting 1x on $500 vgc purchases at Lowes -- presumably after you loaded the code to a participating chase card? I didn't know Lowe's even sold $500 VISA gc's...? ($200 versions, btw, work) Or maybe you meant you tried to purchase 4 of the special golf v/l MASTERcards ? (and I've seen two iterations of that as well -- yet both being m/c)

          • Either it has changed, or I stand corrected. I had the same thing at Fleet Farm - coded as "variety store" and I only got 1x as well. YMMV. #disappointing

          • Not following the report/speculation here.... Why would the purchase of a particular gift card at Lowe's (the mastercard keyed to some "golf" promo) somehow only checkout as "variety store" -- when everything else I've bought at Lowe's thus far during this promo is properly working for the 5x, as "home improvement" -- including btw, grocery store gc's....? So why wouldn't the "gold" mc work too? Have you or anyone actually tried it?

          • ooops, re-reading my query, and I see you're purchase was at Fleet Farm.... Well, as I didn't get any responses to my question re. the golfing vl/mc @ Lowe's, I'm going to have to be the data point I seek. ;-) (will report back)

          • data point: re. the "golfing" vl/mc sold at many Lowe's locations, yes, 5x on those purchases too. (and yes, those mc's can be used anywhere mc gcs work.... including the usual) May come in handy for some. (ps, at least in my state - va - Lowe's registers are hard-coded to require mgr approval for any gc purchase $500 and up.... and the text on the cashier screen will warn about scams from 3rd party this and that. )

  • Just wondering has anyone noticed that when you buy from these bonus categories you get the 5%, but when you return, you keep 4%.

  • Successfully activated through email. Requires last name, last 4, and zip code.
