The Offer

No direct link, targeted offer sent out via snail mail

  • Chase sent out a targeted offer to some business offering a bonus of 100,000 bonus points after $15,000 in spend on the Chase Ink Preferred business card

Our Verdict

Better than the standard bonus of 80,000 points, but this does require an extra $10,000 in spend so some people will prefer the lower offer.

  • Question for anyone who knows from experience...
I have a CIP, approved Sept '19, for one of my 2 (legit) businesses. Was applied for with my SSN. Sole proprietorship. Thinking about getting another for my other business, also sole prop, applying with my EIN. Two questions: 1) do they allow this, and 2) would I be eligible for another bonus since this is a different business, or is the 2 year bonus limit per human being?

  • Surprisingly I got this offer in the mail as well, but I wonder if 24 months since bonus rule will apply. I can't seem to find the term state that.

  • I got one of these mailers for one of my businesses. Is the invitation code limited to the business it was sent to? Or can I use it for a different business of mine? Don't want to get on Chase's bad side. Note: these are all real businesses. Thanks!

  • I dunno...unless your business really rakes in the bucks, I don't see this as that great an offer...the regular CIP public offer is 80,000 points for $5k spend...here, you get a measly 20,000 extra points for spending 3x that! Am I missing something here?

  • I got one but it would be nice if Chase would stop sending me these mailers. They know they're not going to approve me because I'm a little over 5/24... why waste the postage?

  • I just applied and got approved for the 80k ink card about 2 weeks ago. I also received a targeted offer in the mail. Could I PM to match this offer? The 80k was via a referral link though.

    • I would be interested in hearing the result. I applied on Saturday. Approved Sunday. 80k + 20k self referral

      • Why don’t you just do it and be the data point. Sending secure message will take less time than checking back on this post!

  • Hi Chuck,

I was wondering if the offer is targeted why Chase 5/24 rules still applies?

I thought this is a great way to bypass 5/24 rule if this is specifically targeted.

  • This is nearly the same as the public offer. If you spent 15k on a regular 80k bonus, you'd receive 95k, and you can't even earn a referral bonus for this one.

    • If you're counting the points from spending in one case, you should count them in the other case too; so this offer would give 100k+15k=115k. But yes, the return on spending the last $10k isn't great, so it seems more attractive to just do the referral offer and only spend $5k.

Though, there's a chance that you could use the targeted 100k offer and also ask them to manually apply a referral bonus, but maybe it's not likely that this would work.

  • Referring yourself also gives 100k points with less spend, so I don’t see the benefit in this.

    • I was wondering if the offer is targeted why Chase 5/24 rules still applies?

I thought this is a great way to bypass 5/24 rule if this is specifically targeted.

    • It's against the law to self refer, do I need to remind you of what happened with AMEX? People like you are the worst.

      • I agree with Anthony’s logic, although it’s easy enough to just cross refer with someone else and not have to skirt the self-referral rules.

I’m actually looking to do this in a month or two if anyone else out there is also looking to get a second CIP, I’d be interested in referring each other.

        • I dont have a CIP but would like to get one if I can get the 100k offer. Happy to use your referral if it comes with that offer

          • Anyone interested in doing a referral exchange for the CIP can send me an email at sailmagiccarpet @ gmail. If you're planning on getting a second CIP it's a better alternative than the risk of self referring, or if you're getting your first CIP this gives you a free 20k.

          • I was about to apply for CIP2 so I'd be happy to swap referral links if you are going to apply for one as well.

          • So, you'd get the 80k offer, but in 2 months I would sign up for a second CIP through a referral from you. That would get you to 100k with only $5k spend.
