Our Verdict
American Express is at least offering 100,000 points. This offer isn’t worth considering in my opinion due to the high annual fee and low point bonus.

Hello! Looking into getting one of the AMEX Marriott Cards, however looking at the requirements, I was offered an upgrade offer from the Chase Boundless to the Chase Bountiful (Targeted) for 15k Marriott points. I did not take it, and so does that eliminate me from the AMEX welcome offers?
I’d rather have the free rotisserie chicken
Chase - we’ll charge you an extra $155 annual fee , take away the 35k Free night cert and give you 15k Bonvoy points once. Sound good?
Me - No
Didn't even notice it didn't have a few night anymore what a sham
They would need to at least give me 35,000 to make-up the lack of a free night certificate with the Bountiful
Seems to be a worthless card and a worthless offer, Maybe 150,000 points, but 15,000? That and a free night certificate, which this card doesn’t give you automatically, can let you stay at a really posh Residence Inn during “peak season.”
I'm not feeling this card. I don't necessarily spend $15K in a calendar year with Marriott, so to have to spend more and pay a higher fee for my "free" night is a definite downer for me.
Any idea how the annual fee works with these types of offers?
Boundless is up for renewal in March. Wondering if I could upgrade and then downgrade again.
The higher fee will probably be prorated till March then full fee will be charged in March.
I called about the annual fee when I got the email offer a few weeks ago. The rep told me that you would receive a pro-rated refund for the Boundless annual fee, then in 1-2 billing cycles would receive a full annual fee charge for the Bountiful.
