The Offer
Targeted offer, should show after logging into Southwest account
- Chase & Southwest are offering some credit cardholders a 15% bonus on points when they have a certain amount of points post to your Rapid Rewards account between 2/1/19 and 4/30/19. I’ve seen two variations of this offer:
- Receive a 15% bonus when you have at least 10,000 points post to your account between 2/1/19 and 4/30/19 under the category ‘Credit Card’. Up to a maximum of 15,000 points.
- Receive a 15% bonus when you have at least 25,000 points post to your account between 2/1/19 and 4/30/19 under the category ‘Credit Card’. Up to a maximum of 15,000 points.
The Fine Print
- Points count towards companion pass
- Bonus points earned from Chase on a new credit card promotion will not be eligible for the 15% bonus. Last year this was included but sign up bonuses still worked.
Our Verdict
Interestingly one reader who received this offer only recently signed up for this card and there sign up bonus should post during this period. I think that the sign up bonus should show up under the category ‘credit card’ so that means they should get an extra 7,500 points for free. If a sign up bonus won’t post during this period I don’t think the offer is worth doing, most spend only earns 1x Southwest point, under this promotion that would only become 1.15x so it’s still not an attractive offer at all.

Received the 15% bonus on June 11. The sign up bonus points were included in the calculation of the 15% bonus points.
I got the 15% not only on my credit card spend but also on the SUB for my Priority card. Posted June 11.
I logged in to desktop Southwest.com and found it under the Promotions tab. I got a worse offer though: I need 35,000 points post to my account in order to see the 15% bonus. The majority of my cc spend goes on my Southwest card, which might explain why I got such a high threshold.
I got the email this morning. This is pretty sweet timing since I'm only about $200 away from meeting a min spend on an in-flight 50K bonus on the Plus card. I'll just wait another week to meet that min now and get myself an extra 7500 points.
Question #1: Just met spends for both SW cards. I wanted to see if I could move the closing dates up to get the bonuses (and CP) sooner. I SM'ed them and they said sure, just pick a date between the 1st and 28th of the month but added it could take "up to two billing cycles" to take effect. (I didn't explain why I wanted to do this btw.)
Anyone know in practice if it really takes that long? There's no point in doing it if it can't be changed in less than one billing cycle.
Question #2: Paying off the cards early will not help the bonuses post faster, correct?
Also, @shaun, we have the same info in our T&Cs on the promotion as well (only available on one of our three accounts in the family btw). I hope you understand I am rooting for DoC being right on this one! ;)
Chase bonuses will post with the statement, so it won't matter if you prepay the balance. If your statement cuts on the 25th from my experience you'll get the points delivered to your account on the 27th or 28th.
Thank you so much!
Thanks.
Found promotion on Southwest after logging in and have registered
10,000 point offer
Note: Offer page shows that only points resulting credit card transactions are included. That is points that show in credit card category
I got the promotion but don't think credit card bonuses will work. Per the T&C:
"Bonus points earned from Chase on a new credit card promotion will not be eligible for the 15% bonus."
Damn, I was so excited for a moment since I'm expecting the 110k bonus points to post to P2's SW account next month and she's been targeted for the promo... I went ahead and registered anyway just in case there's a glitch!
Someone on Reddit claimed it said the same thing on the same bonus last year, but his sign up bonus still triggered the extra 15%. Worth a shot I think to try.
Good catch!
I received the offer as well, but it is a minimum of 35,000 in spend for my account. I have both personal and business, and earned the companion pass last year purely on spend. Both of my sons received 10,000 minimum spend, but one of them just received a business card. Here's hoping the 60K will count.
Wonder if transfers from Chase count
Obviously not now that I reread.
Found it under the promotions tab: https://imgur.com/a/i5aLaJl
Thanks, I was able to find this through the app, but did not find it through the desktop site. My bonus should post during this time.
