[Targeted] Citi Rewards+: 30,000 Point Sign Up Bonus

Update 5/5/20: Variation of this offer has been sent out. This time it requires $2,000 in total spend. Still better off with the Premier offer. Hat tip to echen1024

  • Earn 1x points on everything else
  • Bonus ThankYou Points are not available if you received a new cardmember bonus for Citi Rewards+℠, Citi ThankYou®Preferred, Citi ThankYou® Premier/Citi Premier℠ or Citi Prestige®, or if you have closed any of these cards, in the past 24 months.
  • Low intro rate on purchases and balance transfers
  • 3% foreign transaction fee
  • 10% rebate on all redeemed points each year, on up to the first 100,000 redeemed points

Our Verdict

Previous best bonus has 20,000 points. Although a higher bonus was available in branch. Card isn’t really worth considering in my opinion because if you get this card you’ll be excluded from getting the Preferred/Premier/Prestige for 24+ months and those cards usually have much bigger sign up bonuses. For example you can get 65,000 points on the Premier currently.

  • Is there a universal or unique offer code in these letters? Anything that can be shared??

    Thanks.

  • Is it 2000 or 4000 total spend for the 300 offer?...conflicting info above in original post

  • How good is citi in figuring out only one bonus in the TY ecosystem within 2 years of opening or closing a card.

    • It's not one bonus any more within 2 years of opening the card. It's one bonus within 2 years of getting a signup bonus on a card.

Second, Citi is famous for being very sloppy with their timing, and if you don't add some "safety buffer" to those 2 years, you stand a risk of being denied for the 2 year reason even at 25 months, and may not be able to argue against it successfully.

  • I product changed my useless Diamond card into a Rewards+ card last year (no bonus). Would I be eligible? Seems like they changed the wording recently (it used to read like no bonus if you opened any TY card)....

Bonus ThankYou Points are not available if you received a new cardmember bonus for Citi Rewards+℠, Citi ThankYou®Preferred, Citi ThankYou® Premier/Citi Premier℠ or Citi Prestige®, or if you have closed any of these cards, in the past 24 months.
