Our Verdict
Nice savings for Utilities which are typically an non-bonused category. This can potentially stack with other spend offers you have on the SYW card.

I didn't get this offer in the email but apparently it was enabled. I was spending on utilities anyway for the 8x$50 one for $40 and also had an overlapping 5x$75 for $50. Got both of those plus the 5% despite no email for that one.
So for a total spend of $775, I got back $128.75, amounting to just more than 16%.
Does anyone know if astound or Verizon count towards utilities? Otherwise I just have gas/electric and garbage? Anything else?
Verizon has counted as utilities for this offer in the past (2022). I’ve since switched carriers and need to know if AT&T does now? Someone below mentioned T-Mobile but reads like just a guess instead of a DP.
Following up on my own question: AT&T wireless does count as “utility” but does not count as “online”. Verizon payments used to stack both offers, but not AT&T apparently.
Does anyone have any issues activating the promotion from the email? I tried the link and it doesn't work. I called in and the customer rep told me I need a code to activate the promotion, but I never received any code.
10% up to $500 - same as last year for me.
I got this email, all about utilities, and in the fine print it says: "You have the opportunity to receive 5% back in statement credits on eligible home improvement purchases which total $450 or more each month (up to a maximum total of $50 in statement credit each month for this offer)."
So utilities + home improvement?
Think this is just a typo from copy pasting everywhere else on the offer only says utilities
Anyone with the Thank You verison of this card get an offer lately? After getting a constant stream of offers for a couple years, haven't seen a single one in about a year.
have the TYP version of Sears MC, and rec'd the Utilities offer. Also have the online offer and usual G/G/R. I think I had the home furnishings one too. The latter is hard to use though.
Dang, I wonder why I dropped to nothing? Did they get tired of me maxing it out month after month?
Yes. I’ve still been getting offers.
Yes, regularly, I have 2 active now for the entire year, and usually have 2-3 active each month on top of that.
Does anybody know if T-Mobile counts as utilities? My water bill doesn't for USBank Cash+, so without the cellphone/internet bill, I can't make it to the $450.
Likely no. Same here. I will need to prepay a lot of my gas bill
According to DPs, some people received this same utilities offer but with 20% back instead of 5%
That I would have used. Already have mine auto paid to my 5% Elan card. For an extra 15% I would have intercepted. 😄
I rec'd "spend 400.00 monthly on utilities, inc, cable services, and get 5% back for 3 months Aug/Sept/Oct". BUT it says maximum monthly credit is 40.00, up to a payment of 400.00 monthly. Seems if you pay 400.00 monthly, I will get 10% back. They did the same thing last year and I got 10% even if the offer says 5%. Correct me but a credit o f$40.00 back monthly on a 400.00 maximum payment is. 10%. My cash Plus gives 5%.
$400 is the minimum, and $40 cashback is the maximum (so $800 spend).
According to the terms, if you spent $400 each month, you should get $20 per month back, not the maximum possible of $40. The Shop Your Way card does also earn the normal 1% back though, so it becomes a total of 6%.
you might be correct, but it's better than the 5% cash+ because the cash+ makes you accumulate 25.00 in rewards before you can redeem.
If you turn on Real Time Rewards, you can start redeeming at $10.
I didn't know that Thanks!
got $40 back on $400 as offer
