[Targeted] PenFed $100 Spending Bonus

The Offer

Penfed sent out a spending bonus to their cardholders. There are two versions:

  • Get $50 after spending $500 between 9/1/24 and 11/30/24.
  • Spend $300 each month in September, October and November and earn a $25 statement credit per month. Here’s the best part: if you earn all three bonuses, you’ll
    receive a $25 bonus for a total bonus of $100.

Our Verdict

Decent spend bonuses. Seems like everyone got one offer or another (it’s possible they are more targeted). Thanks to all those who sent this in.

  • Got a credit on 11/15, presumably for October. Never got the credit for Sept. I guess I'll have to reach out to CS. Seems like they are really botching this offer.

    • i just got my first one also. i spent weeks with back and forth emails and calls, and after proving i was targeted in the email, they then tried to say bonuses are paid after november 30th, after repeating that the t&c states after each month period. i finally got one. I think its september's but cant tell. i will have to wait till 4 weeks afer 10/31 to send them about october otherwise id probably get a canned response saying not 4 weeks yet

      • You can obviously ignore the question that I just asked you as you basically answered it with this comment. I guess that means that I will need to reach out.

        • just got my second one. came 4 days after the first one. if you get a response from cs thats its 4 weeks after nov 30th for any. keep pushing back. i had to do so 4 times, they then fsaid they orwarded it to their promo department and someone would get back to me. no one did get back to me. but after that last email they sent me these credits started posting a few days later.

  • i havent receivved sep or oct. customer service is saying i dont get the bonus until 4 weeks after the promtion ends on 11/30. I keep showing them their t&c theat each $25 is suppoosed to be done within 4 weeks after each minth. they keep insisting that not how it works. based on other comments here. it is clear customer service is wrong. i know im enrolled as i keep getting emails saying theres still time

    • how did you know which month you received credit for? i just got my first credit on nov 16th, i made all my sep oct and nov purchase min's met it didnt say which it was for?

  • I hadn't received any of the bonuses yet, despite receiving an email for the $100 bonus. I reached out to customer service and they said the promotion was not showing up in my account. They asked that I upload screenshots of my email showing I was offered the promotion.

    Heads up for anyone else still waiting for the first $25 credit to post.

    Hopefully this will get the full promotion tracked with my account and I won't have to contact them again after each month...

    • @guest_1942372 did you reach via email or called? I got a reply via email that they are aware that it's not tracking for many people and are currently investigating it. No timeline was given.

      • I sent a message through the website, and they then sent an email with a link to upload screenshots to show I had been targeted. I got a response saying it would be resolved, but no credits have yet posted to my account.

        • Still haven't received any bonuses despite sending screenshots of the email I originally received showing I'd been targeted. I guess CFPB complaint if I don't get anything by the end of December.

  • In September I recieved the bonus 3 days after the purchase. In October I didn't receive the bonus even though I made the purchase on the 1st, but I still keep getting emails saying you still have time to meet this month's bonus requirement. Not sure why it's not recognizing the purchase and keep sending emails.

  • There's also a $25 bonus for $75 purchase on an authorized user card. They require social security number on authorized user cards so I probably won't do it.

  • Anyone receive their October credit? I got the September one in 3 days but it's been more than a week for October.

      • Same here. I made purchases on 10/3 ($250) & 10/4 ($50) and no credit so far. I made a single $300 purchase for September & credit posted in 3 days. I am thinking maybe I need to make a single purchase of $300.

        • BTW, according to the terms, they have 4 weeks after the end of each month to give us the credit so technically, my credit for Sept is not due until around the end of Oct.

        • I don't think that is the issue. I made a single $300+ purchase in Sept & Oct and I haven't received any credits yet.

          • Same here, still waiting for Sep credit. Technically they have until 10/29 (4 weeks from 9/30) to post it.

          • Yes, I 100% was targeted by email and I 100% used the correct card. I know this because I re-checked the email last week after seeing you and others mention receiving the credit after only 3 days.

          • I'm not sure what "game" that you are referring to. Before this promo came out, I had been charging $1 each statement and getting it waived. Are you implying that they now won't pay me my bonus because I did that? If so, that's pretty far-fetched.

          • That is a moot point for 2 reasons.

            #1. I spent well over $300 with each purchase.

            #2. I wrote that I "had" been doing that. I am not doing that during this promo period.

          • The fact that they forgive <$1 is their business, they don't have to do it. There's no way you can be penalized just for the fact that your balance happens to be under $1. The terms for the offer simply say to spend $300, that's it. It shouldn't matter how much or when anybody post any payment to that account. Let's not be paranoid.

          • You and I are in total agreement. Did you miss my earlier reply where I wrote "Are you implying that they now won’t pay me my bonus because I did that? If so, that’s pretty far-fetched."?

          • Did you participate in the PF Savings promo? If so, you should remember that PF isn't consistent with their bonus postings. That's why I'm not worried. At least, not yet. 😉

    • Thanks for the heads up. I have a scheduled payment tomorrow and just reduced that transfer by the $25 bonus.
