The Offer

No direct link to offer, sent out via e-mail. Unknown subject line

  • PenFed is offering some credit card customers a bonus of $50 when they spend $1,000 by February 28, 2021.
  • Others have just a $500 spend requirement.

Our Verdict

Normally it’s spend $1,500 and get $50 back. This is obviously better as the spend requirement is less. We usually see these spending bonuses a couple of times a year.

I got an email from PenFed offering a $50 statement credit after spending $500 between now and 11/30/2024. Here's the terms:
To receive the $50 statement credit, you must spend at least $500 using your PenFed Credit Card ending in 4857 between 9/1/24
and 11/30/24. The statement credit will be applied to your account within 4 weeks after the end of the promotion period. This limited-time
offer is only valid for the credit card number referenced above and is nontransferable. Cash back will be awarded in the form of a one-time
statement credit and does not affect your minimum payment due. Cash advances, credit card checks, and balance transfers do not contribute
towards the $500 purchase minimum. Each account is eligible to earn one statement credit of $50.00 during the promotional period stated
    above.

    • My version: For each month in Sep/Oct/Nov, spend $300 to get $25 credit. Bonus $25 for all 3 months, for total of $100. $100/$900 = 11%

  • Got the $50 off $500 offer in Nov. Did the spend in Nov and still haven't gotten the credit. Anyone else still waiting?

  • I received a rather interesting offer today for my PenFed Promise Visa card via email. I didn't see anything posted about it so thought I would share it here.

    DISCLOSURES

    1. No purchase necessary. In order to receive the $150 credit to your statement, you must complete both requirements during the promotional period ending December 31, 2021 for your account ending in XXXX: (1) sign up for automatic payments and (2) enroll in paperless statements. If earned, the statement credit will be applied to your account within two billing cycles of the offer end date. In order to qualify, your account must remain open, be in good standing, and not become delinquent. Statement credit cannot be used to satisfy the required monthly payment on your credit card account and may not be redeemed for cash or cash equivalent. This offer is non-transferrable. Limit one statement credit per cardholder. Offer ends December 31, 2021.

    • My offer is: "Celebrate the season with $150 when you add an authorized user to your PenFed credit card account."

    • Enrolled in monthly autopay and re-enrolled in electronic statements (since I already receive them this way). We'll see if the $150 statement credit posts in February 2022.

I had also received the $50 credit for $500 spend offer. Met the spend requirement in early December and the credit posted about a week later.

  • Nothing. Usually I get targeted around this time (or a little earlier) for a spend offer from them (usually on my "Pathfinder", but sometimes on my "Power Cash Rewards"). Ah well. Maybe next time.

  • I haven't been targeted for these since 2020, right before I started doing the small balance waiver on the Penfed Platinum. I wonder if that has anything to do with not being targeted?
