No direct link to offer, sent out via e-mail. Subject line is ‘<name>, A-List status is all yours.’

  • Southwest is offering some members free A-List status that is good through April 30, 2022

Our Verdict

A-List normally requires 25 one way qualifying flights or 35,000 qualifying points and provides the following benefits:

  • Priority boarding
  • 25% earning bonus
  • Same-day standby
  • Priority check-in and security lane access
  • Dedicated A-List member phone line

Same deal was available last year as well.

  • I was granted A List through December 2023. Recently earned the companion pass though CC offers. This appears to be a Colorado based thing.

    • Yep. In CO and just got it through dec 2023.
I just applied (still in review) for SWA Biz for 120k and CP. Maybe this is a good sign lol

    • Yea, Southwest is giving status through April 2022. Doc clearly put the update, give it a break man

  • Ah yes spending money to try to placate to their customers when really they should be INVESTING IN THEIR EMPLOYEES. You know, the philosophy Herb Keller (the founder of Southwest) had when he started that airline? They say not to look a gift horse in the mouth but this is just wolf in sheep's clothing with a gift basket. Hard pass, I'd rather fly Spirit and pay 25 cents to flush the toilet in the airplane bathroom before I set foot on this airline again.

    • Righteous outrage is soooooo 2019.

In a few years after collective amnesia has set in, you'll be flying Southwest again like the rest of us since you only ever flew Southwest to save money to begin with. You'll keep quitting one LCC after another until eventually you'll either run out of choices or are forced to pay for an airline that doesn't run on fax machines and Windows 95.

      • So we should do business with companies that treat their employees like trash? Considering how I have a career in the aviation world I can say that as for me I will never do business with them. All the pilots that haven't obtained seniority with 10+ years of working there are jumping ship to the other majors. There's no future with that airline given how it's functioning now.

Now as for the general masses, yes you're right, many people will likely forget what Southwest did but us pilots aren't going to forget the colossal fuck up and how Gary Kelley destroyed what Southwest was founded on.

Now if you'd like to read about "righteous outrage" take a look at the letter coming from the Southwest's pilot's union: https://www.swapa.org/news/2022/two-legacies/
