TD Bank are one of the smaller credit card issuers in the U.S. with a larger presence in Canada. In this post we will have a quick look at all of the credit cards they offer are (with links to our in depth reviews), the current best offers for each card (as well as any previous highs) and any rules or other information you should know.
As well as offering credit card bonuses, they also offer checking account bonuses. You can see if they are currently offering any by clicking here.
Rules & Things To Know
- TD Bank only accepts applications from the following states on some of their credit cards (e.g cash credit card): CT, DC, DE, FL, MD, ME, MA, NC, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, SC, VT, & VA. Other cards such as Aeroplan have no such restriction.
- They do not match sign up bonuses.
- They do combine inquiries.
- Won’t let you product change between their cards.
- They offer you a free credit score, but it’s not your FICO Score.
- They do a hard pull when you request a credit limit increase.
List Of Cards
TD Bank offer both personal & business cards. I have broken them up into these two sections.
Personal Cards
- TD Cash Credit Card
- TD First Class Visa Signature Credit Card
- TD Ameritrade Client Rewards Credit Card
- TD Aeroplan Visa Signature Credit Card
Business Cards
Best Offers & Reviews
In this section we will look at the current best offer for each card, along with the historical highest bonus and also provide a link to our in depth reviews if we have one. It’s important to keep in mind that TD Bank almost always has the highest bonuses on their website, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a non-targeted offer that was higher than what was being publicly displayed.
TD Cash Credit Card
- $150 cash bonus after $500 in spend (valid until January 14th, 2017)
- 2% cash back on dining purchases
- 1% cash back on all other purchases
- $0 annual fee
- $0 foreign transaction fee
This card is pretty basic and only worth considering for the sign up bonus (you can easily get 2% cash back or more on all purchases with other cards). There are also other cards that offer better cash sign up bonuses, but these might not be available to you or you might have already received the bonus on that card.
The best offers on this card are as follows:
- Best public bonus: $200 cash back after $1,500 in spend
- Best targeted bonus: $200 cash back after $500 in spend (offered at the same time as this current bonus)
TD First Class Visa Signature Credit Card
- 25,000 miles after $3,000 in spend within the first three month
- Card earns at the following rates:
- 3x miles on travel & dining purchases
- 1x miles on all other purchases
- $0 foreign transaction fees
- Annual fee of $89 waived first year
Points are worth 1¢ per point when redeemed against travel or dining purchases. Card has always offered the same sign up bonus as far as I know.
TD Ameritrade Client Rewards Credit Card
- $100 cash bonus when you spend $500 or more within three months
- 1.5% cash back on all purchases
- 10% bonus on all cash back earned if you redeem into a TD Ameritrade account. This means you could earn a maximum of 1.65% cash back
- No annual fee
This card was launched in June of 2015 and as far as I know has always offered the same sign up bonus and there haven’t been any targeted offers for more than $100. Again this card isn’t that interesting due to the low sign up bonus and poor earning rate.
TD Aeroplan Visa Signature Credit Card
- Sign up bonus of 25,000 Aeroplan miles when you spend $1,000 or more in purchases in the first three billing cycles
- Annual fee of $95 is waived the first year
- Card earns at the following rates:
- 2x Aeroplan miles per $1 spent on Air Canada purchases
- 1x Aeroplan miles on all other purchases
- Visa Signature Benefits
This card is really only worth considering for the sign up bonus (and it’s always had the same sign up bonus and I haven’t heard of any higher targeted bonuses).
TD Business Solutions Credit Card
- $200 after $3,000 after $3,000 in spend
- 1x points on all purchases
- $0 annual fee
This card has always had the same $200 sign up bonus as far as I’m away.
Our Verdict
The problem with these smaller card issuers is that the information regarding them is extremely limited and scattered, I’m hoping that by starting this post we are able to gather the information into one post and make it easy to reference whenever an offer on one of the card comes around.
Recent datapoints that suggest inquiries are combined are encouraging, the next thing to realistically find out is if the cards can be churned or not. Signing up for the cash bonus when it’s at $200 (or even $150 with the lower minimum spend requirement) and the Aeroplan card at the same time to get the inquiries combined seems pretty good to me.
I’ll likely do something similar for other smaller credit card issuers as well (e.g FNBO). I’ve already done it for Synchrony & Comenity, although those are a little different as they mostly cover store cards.

TD cash has foreign transaction fee now found in the card agreement. Website still says "$0". Just FYI for anyone looking here.
TD public offerings: (Personal) TD Cash Credit Card earns $200 cash back (20,000 points) on $500 spent in first 90 days and (business) TD Business Solutions Credit Card earns $400 on $3000 spent in first 90 days. Please update both above and recommend this replace the 'best public offer' to date for both. Applying in branch (a local TD 'store') earns an additional $25 statement credit on first $25 spent on dining. This appears to apply to each account.
The current cash back rewards are 3% for dining, 2% for groceries, and 1% for everything else
TD recently boosted some of their public offers. Ex. TD Cash Back card is now $200 bonus after $500 spend with 3% back on dining and 2% on groceries.
I'm going to call in later this week to close my first class (AF is about to hit). I'll ask them about combining credit lines to see if I can get my line moved over to my Cash card.
Were you successful in combining your credit limit?
I’m rather interested in the outcome as my oldest credit card is a TD card with a puny 1250 CL. Would be nice to open a new card and combine the CL.
I did a 150 back after 500 spend TD personal card. Then a couple of months later, TD declined my app for a 200 back after 500 spend biz cc that they sent me a post card for, due to "too much credit (across the board, I suppose)." Lame.
Confirm today that TD will not combine inquiry for business credit card application and personal credit card application.
Another DP tonight.
1) You cannot make any cash advance online/over the internet. You have to go to the physical location of the vendor to do any cash advance transaction, if you want to. Of course I doubt any of us would do that. This is confirmed by customer service specialist.
2) TD Business Solution CC coded as cash advance when funding PNC checking account. But it is not really "coded" though and never will because of point 1). As a result, the transaction would always be declined. This could extend to that all TD bank CC both personal and business CC cannot be used to fund bank account online.
3) Just like HSBC CC, you cannot lower the CA on your card. And CA is fixed at 30% of your CL. This is confirmed by customer service representative.
Applied on 8/21 for the business credit card, login online account today and seeing card posted there. $12500 CL, oreviously 14 injuries on Experian with above 780 score, my first business credit card
TD business credit card reports account open in Experian, my personal credit reports now shows this card. I thought that all business credit card doesn't report on personal credit report?
Capital One and Discover are two issuers that report business cards to personal reports. If you've got the TD business card on your personal report, then we have another weird oddity.
'Tis a shame because I wouldn't mind building business credit with TD, but I really don't want my personal issuers to see that I have business cards as long as I'm keeping them all current.
What did I type ? Previously 14 inquiries...
TD bank's Cash Credit Card contains the following terms/conditions:
"Eligible purchases do not include purchases of any cash equivalents, money orders, and/or gift cards or reloading of gift cards."
What!? No gift cards! Noooo
Almost all cards include those restrictions, rarely if ever enforced.
My wife's Target store credit card is issued by TD Bank. Maybe add it to the list?
I'm also wondering why Target cards aren't listed here as they have to be one of the biggest card lines for TD Bank.
Hey William. Im thinking maybe you ad this post to the bottom of this thread where all the banks are listed and do a TD clickable link, Just a thought 😉
