Our Verdict
People had a lot of issues with the $400 checking bonus. That bonus was better but I doubt we will see something that good again. I’d recommend reading the comments to see if you want to deal with this bank before signing up.

Anyone got approved from TX ?
Approved from PA
Anyone approved from CA?
I did this a couple of years ago, jumped through all their hoops, then never got the bonus.
Approved in CO after submitting a utility bill...I do work at a school, but not as sensitive as expected. Might just try for the 200 and not mess with the debit card rewards.
Did they pull chex? Thanks!
Applied online from FL, chex is LOL/24. Application is pending, should hear back in 2 days. Will update if approved/declined
Update: Was approved. Will follow all the steps to a T, real DD only.
@guest_1968189 Are you near the Tampa branch? Thank you
I am about 2 hrs away, Central FL.
What was your recent chex stats? In the last 30 days, 60 days, 90 days?
High Chex and approved.
DP:
12/10: Applied and stacked using an anonymous referral for $50, and input the ‘SMARTBONUS‘ promo code at near end of application.
5 to 6 hours later a rep from Teachers e-mails back on uploading a clear picture of Driver License and proof of Residency or Utility Bill
12/11: Separate e-mail that i have been approved and that i should receive link to finalize and fund your new account
This will put me at 27 or 28/12.
I technically reside in NYC, but most of Teachers Institutions are east of me located in Long Island, NY and it appears the nearest one from me is 15 to 20 miles away. So that’s another plus point that they’re not only approving the Long Island community.
Cracked jokes in older Teachers’ threads from previous years but was always too afraid to take the gamble.
I will go Nightmare on Elm Street on these clowns the minute they start to act up. Will be observing and doing things very closely and step by step to ensure a safe landing 🤡
How do you know the referral stacked - did it show both bonuses as applied and/or the total amount or something? I am worried they might say at the end that only one bonus offer code counts and deny the above bonus. Thanks!
Because the terms on the referral program specifically say you can participate in other bonus programs... If you can get approved AND keep your account at this fine credit union. @guest_1970419

Also if you do some digging, others in the older Teachers threads have successfully done it as well.
I wasn't 100% sure it was going to work but then i got the "You're on your way to earning $50" e-mail about 3 days after acct opening. And it does mentions the 10 qualifying transactions within 60 days of acct opening as well.
I also contacted Teachers on the first day the acct was approved and they mentioned to me that the smartbonus promo code is properly attached and that for any refer-a-friend promotions to please allow 1-2 weeks for it to go in effect.
High Chex and approved.
