Tips For Searching Doctor Of Credit

This site has a lot of information on it and sometimes finding the information you’re interested in can be difficult. Reader Yet Another Redditor shared some of his tips for searching the site and I thought they were worth sharing (I didn’t even realize some were possible).

  • You can search using multiple keywords (similar to google), for example: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/?s=wells+fargo+checking
  • You can search a specific category. For example: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/category/checking-accounts/?s=wells+fargo+checking
    • Click the category head (green headers on the home page)
    • Add ?s=yourkeywords to the end
  • Some common categories:
  • Use google’s site search. Use site:doctorofcredit.com “your keywords here”

We also try to make reference pages easy to find and access, for example:

  • I wish comments were searchable :( I'm still trying to track down this one specific comment, can't seem to find it

  • Thanks to the wealth of information here, I use the site for daily news / offers and for later reference. EVERY time I sign up for, product change, or cancel a card I review the tips after a search on Google: site:doctorofcredit.com Everything you need to know about (Chase / Amex / Barclaycard / Etc). This prevents getting caught by rules and getting forced denials.

  • It goes without saying that your site is incredible, and we are all very lucky.

I do have a few suggestions regarding search functionality, but I know that sometimes things that may seem like a simple online fix can be extremely difficult and expensive. I think the search function on the website can be more flexible. The searching leaves little room for alternative spellings in pulling up posts. For instance, posts for American Express are sometimes posted as Amex and sometimes spelled out "American Express." If I search for American Express, only the full spelling posts come up. The same is true for alternative spellings of M&T and other shorthand/longhand names. Additionally, I believe that the search tool only pulls subject headings, not content. So, when I was searching the other day for 4th Quarter bonuses on various cards, a search for Barclays did not pull anything up since the post heading did not include "Barclays."

    • Yeah, I have no idea how to make those sort of changes to the internal search, better off just using google for those issues I think.

  • Ooh, there's a feature? Noice.

Can you add a category dropdown box next to the search go button for this?
Would be 1000% more convenient to search for wells fargo checking accounts I could just type wells fargo, select checking accounts from the category list, and smash the go button.

  • I type into the search bar just as i would into google and usually i find the results.
I wish there was an option to see all my previous comments by either searching for my name or clicking on my name.
