The Offer
- Lone Star National Bank is offering a $200 checking bonus when you open a new personal checking account and complete the following requirements:
- Receive monthly direct deposits of $1,500+ through 5/31/24
The Fine Print
- Bonus will be deposited by 6/30/24
- All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
Easiest account to keep fee free is the LSNB, this has a $10 fee that is waived if any of the following requirements are met:
- Minimum Direct Deposit/ACH Credit(s) of at Least $500 per Statement Cycle
- Minimum of 20 Posted Debit Card Purchases/Payments per Statement Cycle
- Minimum Daily Balance of $500 (Everyday of Statement Cycle)
You also need to opt into paperless statements otherwise you’ll be charged $3.
Early Account Termination Fee
- No ETF
- $10 monthly inactivity fee after 180 days if balance below $100
Our Verdict
There is also a $2,500 business checking bonus but that requires merchant services so not worth considering. I think you need to open this in branch but not 100% sure.

Chex sensitive. Applied online and it showed as approved. Then got a snail mail letter one week letter saying unable to approve based on information provided by ChexSystems, Inc.
How many do you have in the last 12/24 months?
Just got my Chex report in the mail. 9 in the first three months of 2024 and 12 in 2023.
I tried to request the Consumer Disclosure report on the Chex portal, it says it had issue delivering it online and would mail it. I'll provide the data when I receive the report in the mail. It's probably pretty high as I've been going pretty hard lately.
They're chex sensitive. I tried calling a branch and open it but the rep later came back stating the manager said no due to high chex.
So, who's going to apply first? Please post your chex info with your results. I think that I have too many chex inqs to be the guinea pig.

Also, the LSNB Checking has a $3 paper statement fee so don't forget to enroll in e-statements.
Thanks, updating post
Did anyone confirm that this is in-branch only?
I don't believe the original ad on their FB and IG pages didn't explicitly state that.
The comments on the Contact Us page mentioned that the LS website filtered by zip code when starting the application, but I don't see an apply button at the moment.

Oh, I was going to the info pages for the individual type of accounts, not the general personal banking page. Thanks.
