The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • U.S. Bank is offering $100 with a new Automated Investor account
    • Open an Automated Investor account by December 31, 2023
    • Fund the account with at least $1,000 within 30 days of opening
    • Maintain the balance for at least 120 days

The Fine Print

  • This offer is valid for clients who are 18 years or older, who open a new U.S. Bancorp Investments Automated Investor account between September 12, 2023 and December 31, 2023 (the “Promotion Period”) and satisfy the eligibility conditions described below. Eligible investors can earn a maximum cash bonus of $100.
  • To qualify, the entire amount of cash or securities to fund the account must be “New to U.S. Bancorp Investments,.” i.e., the cash and securities funding the account must not have been previously held as existing balances in any U.S. Bancorp Investments accounts and any amounts transferred from such existing balances will not count towards qualification for the cash bonus. Offer is not valid if you have received other Automated Investor cash bonus offers within the past 24 months. The account is offered by U.S. Bancorp Investments Inc., an investment advisor and broker-dealer subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp and affiliate of U.S. Bank.
  • The $100 bonus offer is valid when you open an Automated Investor Account during the Promotion Period and fund with a minimum of $1,000 (the “Threshold Amount”) of new cash and/or securities within 30 days of opening. Once the account is funded with the Threshold Amount, and in good standing, the Threshold Amount must be maintained in the Automated Investor Account for 120 days in order to qualify for the $100 bonus. Market fluctuation after deposit will not affect the calculation of the Threshold Amount for purposes of determining qualification.

Our Verdict

Previously this was part of a targeted bonus. Looks like you can also tweak your risk profile to have mostly bonds if you want as well (this is not investment advice, please consult a professional). Personally don’t think it’s worth doing for a small bonus, but everybody is different.

  • Does anyone know how to withdrawl/sell the shares? I can't figure out how to get the robot/automated investor to go into cash

  • P1-P3 applied for this account when the bonus was active. We were all declined for the account. It shouldn't have mattered what portfolio we selected (conservative). Our Chex counts are probably lol/24, but I thought that brokerage accounts wouldn't be subject to Chexsystems sensitivity. We are all U.S. Bank customers in that we all have credit cards with them. Are there any other reasons why we would have been declined for the accounts?

We have all been able to churn their personal checking bonus every 2 years without issue so I don't think we're blacklisted or anything. We've all been denied online for business checking accounts as of late though, so I don't know if that has anything to do with this or not. All in footprint with plenty of local branches around as well (So Cal). Would calling in have been an option to open the account for the bonus instead of online?

  • Predictably, they didn't let me close via email and had me call in. The rep seemed to think an internal transfer of the funds would be possible once everything was sold, if that's helpful to anyone. The other option was getting a check in the mail. Call was pretty painless, didn't ask for a reason for closing.

    • @guest_1829600 I searched EVERYWHERE and couldn't find a single item about ANY fees, fucking bastards. I wonder if FINRA & SIPC have any idea of these crooks.. I'll have to report them.

  • 9/27/2023 - Open and funded Account
    2/28/2024 - Bonus hit

From what I could tell, unless you have a US bank checking or savings account, there's no way to transfer the money to an external account. I had to call in to close the account and have them mail me a check for the account balance.

  • I opened this account, but there is no way to transfer money in? I don't have a checking account with US bank, and when I click "Transfer Funds", I only see: "To make a transfer you need two or more eligible accounts. Would you like to consider a new checking, savings or other U. S. Bank account?" and there isn't anywhere I can actually transfer anything.

    • Yes you can do it but you gotta click on main menu transfers and pay and then external transfer
