Our Verdict

Not as good as the recent $400 bonus. That comes around fairly frequently so I’d recommend just waiting for that bonus to return. Because of that I won’t be adding this to the best bank account bonus page.

    * 06/07 opened account with $25 deposit (out of footprint applied and opened self directed brokerage account first)
    * 6/30, 7/1, 7/6 deposits of $1000 from Chase checking
    * 7/20 Ten $5 gift card purchases from Amazon
    * 8/11 $250 bonus posted

  • Opened account 6/7/21.
    DDs completed on 6/30/21,
    10th debit card purchase on 7/12/21.
    Bonus "Adjusted Interest" of $250 paid 8/11/21.

  • Thanks for the heads up about possible $400 offer! I just became eligible again but I'll be patient.

  • Found it odd that the bonus was coded as Adjusted Interest -. $250.
    Used Schwab Brokerage and SOFI.

    • When did you signup for this? I have not yet received my bonus and I signed up 06/08

      • Same - opened account 6/14 and have not received the bonus yet. Completed two Chase transfers totaling $3k on 6/30 and 10 debit purchases (Amazon reloads totaling $50) on 7/6. In case the Chase transfers don't count as DD, I also am doing real DDs from work but have not reached $3k yet.

        • I do it every year with Discover Bank, has never failed. Looked back on my records and average time for bonus to post is 2months after opening

  • Not sure if it's new terms, but it now requires 10 debit card transactions totaling $50 in addition to the direct deposit. "Additionally, you must complete 10 or more debit card transactions totaling fifty dollars ($50.00) or more using your associated debit card within 60 days of account opening. All transactions must be posted to the account within those 60 days."

  • Offer says nationwide, I was declined, when I called they said it was because I live in Maryland. Please help me understand.

  • 3rd churn on this one; last bonus paid 4/8/20, account closed 7/24/20, so I'm good on no bonus within 12 months & no account within 6 months. Chose Gold checking as I have a USB Cash+ CC. Tried to fund $250 with PayPal Cashback MC, kept coming back w/error, but I have Cash Advance set to $0 so might have been it, so funded with BBVA bank account.
    It automatically added Promo code 21DIG06, but got an error "invalid code", it added a space after the code, so watch out for that.

    • When you hit the link to CC funding it does say, "Sadly U.S. Bank no longer allows credit card funding."

      • No, CC funding is an option. I'm not sure what the problem was, I triple checked the account #, expiration & security code, after 2 tries it no longer gave me the option for CC funding. And then when I logged into my PP MC account I had a banner telling me to call in. Rep told me it was the "decline" from US Bank; I cleared it up & a few minutes later used it to fund Bank of the West. So not sure what the problem was, but CC funding is still there.

        • billing zip code of the credit card must match the zip code of the address you used to set up the us bank account
