Our Verdict

Benefits aren’t really worth it for the $450 annual fee, but it could be worth getting the first year just for the miles but even then it’s hard to justify. Think this is an easy pass for most people but better than the standard 60,000 miles offer. We won’t be adding this to the best credit card bonus page.

  • I am Korean and I try to stay away from them. They have gone downhill since 10 years ago and their service is at its worst. Not worth it at all

  • I would rather get the 50k offer with $95 AF... after some decent spend it's one way biz to Asia, that's enough.

  • do we know if the $100 korean air credit applies to tax paid for mile redemption? Could be a net $150 annual fee card in that case

    • From Application page : "discount coupon amount will be deducted from Base Fare.
Coupon applies to Prestige Class and Economy Class base fares and excludes taxes, fees and other ancillary surcharges"

  • Wow, a $450 Visa Signature card with no lounge access and limited benefits and utility. It may benefit a very few persons with a very specific situation, like traveling to Seoul in Y, but for everyone else this is a hard pass!

    • By a very few persons with a very specific situations, you mean hundreds of thousands of Koreans living stateside who would normally have to spend at least $1500 on direct RT flights (that’s still 14+ hours) to and from Korea. I’m willing to bet US Bank is targeting those, and any other signups are extra.

      • Yeah, I'm considering it. My SO is Korean, and we've been thinking of bringing the kids to Korea to visit family and whatnot. So it's basically $150 for 70k miles, assuming the $200 credit and $100 off would be triggered by that trip.

We definitely wouldn't keep it after the first year, but it would help with a one-off trip. If we went every year, it might make sense to keep the card. The 5% off alone is another $100 or so for 2 tickets, more for us with our kids.
