Uber announced the launch of Uber Offers, a way of racking up free Uber credit by linking your Visa card and using it to pay at participating merchants.
The program is in partnership with Visa, and only Visa cards can be linked. And for now, the program is limited to select Uber riders in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Each dollar spent at partner merchants gets 1 point, and 100 points gets $10 off a future Uber ride. This yields an effective 10% rebate (in Uber credit) on all spend. Quite nice if you’re shopping there anyway.
These Offers are managed entirely within the Uber app, and an Offers tab is being added slowly into eligible users’ apps. You do need to enroll in each offer before using. And sometimes you’ll even have to re-enroll before using the same offer a second time. Oh, and re-enrollment might not be available instantly after using the offer.
This program is similar to Ebates and Upromise who offer in-store cash back at various retailers. Similarly, many dining mileage portals offer bonus miles for restaurant purchases.
A friend of mine got an offer for 3x at Walgreen’s. That would amount to a 30% discount on Walgreens in Uber credit.
Update: Now available for everyone.

Can we double dip, or is this powered by the same company?
Double dip with what?
With the standard Upromise/Mileage programs.
Just wanted to know if they have some data sharing agreement.
I think these are powered by Visa's Trialpay and their offers seem to include Peet's coffee, Whole Foods among many others.
Stack with cap1 quicksilver?
In what respect?
Wonder how long until Uber has a cobranded card?
Don't think it's in their near future, they extended their Capital One partnership until sometime next year. Maybe after an IPO? Although Uber does love to try and do everything, so wouldn't surprise me
