The Offer
- United is offering a 30% bonus when you transfer hotel points, up to a maximum of 25,000 miles
The Fine Print
- Valid until September 30, 2021
- Maximum of 25,000 bonus miles
Our Verdict
The only partner that’s only really worth considering is Marriott, as the other partners have very poor transfer rates. With Marriott the normal transfer rate is 3 Marriott points = 1.1 United mile. You also get a 5,000 bonus when you transfer 60,000 points over. After this bonus you could transfer 60,000 Marriott points and receive 35,750 United miles.

Transferred on the last day Sept 30. Miles not yet posted on United acct.
After the transfer from Marriott, miles posted on my United acct after 5 biz days. United bonus posted on 10/28. Based on the comments here, I thought it would be in January, but it was posted last week to my pleasant surprise. Maybe bcoz I am United Explorer Card holder?
This is my understanding
Per every 60k:
10% bonus - included automatically by marriott = 6k
5k for every 60k included after xfer by marriott = 5k
30% bonus on "activity posted" to united that will be deposited by united = either 6.6k OR 8.1k
Anybody receive their 30% bonus? Terms and conditions say 6-8 weeks, but I hope it posts sooner.
Update: Finally got my bonus miles. Took almost 7 weeks.
I got the full 35,750 miles
transferred 5 days ago, miles not posted yet
Could someone please give an accurate and definitive total if you redeem 60K Marriott points for United miles using this promotion? It’s math, there can only be one correct answer! Thanks.
It would be even more helpful if someone just confirmed how many United points they received after transferring 60K Marriott points...
Every 60k Marriot points will get 25,000 points plus 10% united transfer= 27,500 miles
Factor in the promotion of 30% 27,500 will become 35,750 united miles
Can you do 3 different transfers of 60K points each to get 5K bonus 3 times? Not sure if you transfer 180K points, you get 5K or 15K bonus. This 5K is not part of the 30% promo. Terms and conditions say the bonus will post on or before Jan 31 2022. I really need the bonus miles for use in Nov. Does anyone know how fast the United bonus posts from past experience? Thank you.
It takes about 3 days for the Marriot points to post into your united account without the 30% bonus
The last time I did a 30% bonus transfer was with Hyatt about 3-4 yrs ago. It took about 2 -3 months to get the 30% bonus points. I do remember getting the bonus points in Jan of that next year following a fall United 30% promotion
I transferred 180,000 points to United to get 60k plus 15k bonus. 75,000 x 1.1=82500. 10% bonus on all United transfers.
Factor in the 30% bonus 82500 miles will become 107,250 miles. The maximum miles you can get from the promo is 25k.
It took 5 days for the points to post in the united account (82,500) (Sept 7 posting)
United back dated the points to Sept 2. This was the day of transfer from Marriot
Looks like a long wait til Jan 2022 for the 24,750 bonus points
Bonus 24,750 posted Oct 28 2021. About 4 weeks after promo ended on Sept 30 2021
I just transferred 180K in one transaction the other day. You will get 15K bonus. The way it shows up in Marriott is three separate transactions--you see the -180,000 points then Marriott adds 45,000 points to your account and instantly transfers those to the same airline program.
This might be a reasonable way to transfer Amex MR points to United. With the MR to Marriott 1:1.3 bonus, you can transfer 46,154 (so functionally 47,000) MR pts --> 60,000 Marriott pts --> 35,750 United miles.
But it wouldn't make sense at most cases as you can transfer to ANA for better redemption rate
Or aeroplan
Is the math this?
Normal transfer of 60000 to UA and get 20000 + 5000 + 2500 = 27500
Now with the 30% bonus we would get 27500 *1.3 = 35750
Yeah
Thanks for the comments, based on past promotions I think you should get 35,750 United
dude it's 33,600 miles in total for every 60,000 Marriott you transfer. 22000*0.3+22000+5000 = 33,600.
Correct me if I m wrong.
