The Fine Print
- Must enroll in auto-renew (you can easily discontinue that whenever you’d like)
- Valid for Gold Star ($60) and Gold Star Executive ($120)
- This offer is only valid for new Costco members and not for renewal of membership. To qualify as a new member, an existing Costco membership must be expired for 18 months or more.
Our Verdict
We see $10-$20 discounts/giftcards from time to time; $30 is a good deal. Exact same deal is available for Sprint Rewards users.

I got it but only after contacting support. So... I'd say possible, but YMMV.
I don't think there's a rush to sign up, I'd wait when you can fully utilize this 1 year membership since the promotion's is valid through 12/31/2020

I discovered by accident, when explaining to a store employee about not being able to use a Mastercard in the store, that Costco.com happily accepts MasterCard. Not sure about buying a membership with a Mastercard.
