Using The Chime Card To Meet Minimum Debit Transactions

If you haven’t already heard of the Chime card then it’s a reloadable debit card that has special offers that are similar to AmEx offers. Unfortunately it’s not possible to use a credit card or gift cards to load the cards and there is a maximum load of $100 to $200 (this seems to regularly change between the two). You can use debit cards to load your account though, which means you can use a miles earning debit card (such as a SunTrust Delta Debit) or a cash earning debit card (PayPal Business Debit).

An angle that I hadn’t looked at before was using the Chime card to meet minimum debit card transactions. If you do bank account bonuses regularly or have a rewards checking account then this can be a extremely useful. In the past I’ve just recommended that people purchase Amazon gift cards as they were available for only $0.15, unfortunately the minimum is now $0.50. For those who don’t shop regularly at Amazon, you may end up with way too many gift cards.

Instead you can now fund your Chime card instead and then use that card for regular purchases or profitable offers that are made available to card holders. If you don’t already have a Chime card, it’s well worth signing up for. They pay a referral bonus of $10, rather than listing my own link I’ve let people share theirs on our Chime card page whenever they share new information about the card.

We’ll be keeping this page updated with other ways of meeting minimum debit card transaction requirements.

Hat tip to FrugalHack.me for pointing this out.
