[Live] Venmo Adds Venmo Rewards To Debit Card (DOSH Rewards)

Update 11/5/19: Now live.

Venmo has added Venmo Rewards to the Venmo Debit card. The program will roll out next week and will offer:

  • 5% cash back at Target
  • 5% cash back at Sephora
  • 5% cash back at Wendy’s
  • 4% cash back at Dunkin’
  • 5% cash back at Chevron
  • 4% cash back at Sam’s Club
  • 5% cash back at Papa John’s

It will be powered by the DOSH cash-back platform. Dosh said it is rolling out new merchants later this week, so you’d expect those to be offered with Venmo as well. Makes more sense to just use another card linked to Dosh as that way you’ll get the normal credit card rewards as well.

  • I am now seeing 4% back on Walmart.com and Walmart grocery online (Also my current other offers are Dunkin Donuts 4%, Sephora 5%, Macy's 4%, JCPenney 5%, Sam's Club 4%, 1-800-flowers.com 15%, Papa Johns 5%, Forever 21 4%, Frank and Oak 5%)

  • I wonder if you can get around the Sam's Club lifetime cash back limit using this Venmo card? Would be nice if you could get around that limit and also make the Venmo card purchases in a way that allows you to get credit card rewards.

  • Put a credit card as backup payment. Said it was free if used for purchase. But on my first attempt to use the debit card, it says declined. What's the point of providing the option if won't allow it.

  • Why would I use the 4% reward at Dunkin when I can get $1 off any coffee shop using Cash App?

    • Personal card rewards are considered "discounts" and thus not taxable. Though we did recently find out they are considered "assets" at least in certain cases, due to the recent legal case of someone getting arrested for using the credit card points of a frozen account (for criminal investigation reasons).

  • Glad that they finally decided to do this. I actually ordered my Venmo card on Saturday; it was just going to sit with my other unused cards, but it may actually see some use now.
