Verizon: Free Netflix Premium For One Year When You Purchase Another Subscription

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Verizon is offering free netflix premium for one year when you purchase NBA League Pass or NFL+ Premium, or an annual subscription to AMC+, Peloton App, Calm, or Super Duolingo

Our Verdict

NFL+ premium is the cheapest option costing $25. This works even if you have an existing Netflix membership so that’s nice as well.

  • Does anyone know if this will work with just the Verizon Fios plan, or do you need Verizon TV/Cable for this to work?
    thank you

  • How does it link to your Netflix account? Do the email addresses have to be the same? Do the names have to match? Netflix is my wife's account so I wonder if I can sign up for the NFL deal and credit the deal to her Netflix account.

    • I just successfully did it with my netflix account that's under a different email address vs my verizon. I was already logged into netflix and verizon detected it.

  • With Verizon Visa and Military Discount, my bill comes in under $60 for my single line. Netflix alone was costing me $20/mo, hulu $7, disney+ $11, google play pass $5. That's $43/mo recouped (for a year til Netflix expires) on $60 unlimited plan. Plus that Verizon Visa is a beast earning 4% grocery+gas and 3% at restaurants/fast food. Some people complain about Verizon but for me, they're killing it.

    • They did fix the loophole of getting a fancy line with all the streaming services, then suspending it for $5 (or $0 for military), but yes, great opportunity.

  • Anyone has Netflix credits on their account and tried this? My Netflix is paid for until June from previous chromecast deals

  • Anyone with an existing Netflix account see if this adds onto the end of your existing subscription? Verizon's terms say it's 365 days starting from the date of purchase. Might be worth waiting until just before your month is up.

Also, I presume this is going to show up as Verizon, so it wouldn't trigger something like the Calm Amex Offers.

    • It does not add to your existing account. I contacted Netflix and was told that we would receive a credit for any unused days between the date we link our account to Verizon's offer and the end of our prepaid billing period. That credit then stays in our account and would be applied once payment is our responsibility again (at the end of the 12 months).

      • Netflix chat support refunded the last bill in full to my credit card. I tried signing up the day before it billed, but the activation process got stuck for >24 hours and it billed yesterday.

To answer my own question, it bills from Verizon (Cable/Satellite category) and is an immediate charge, not on your next bill.

    • I think the existing subscription remains the same. The difference is that billing is now passed along to Verizon. After making the change my Netflix account looks the same, only it now shows billing through Verizon.

  • This whole thing has been a complete and total nightmare. Trying to sign up for the NFL deal errored out, and then there was no way to ever get back to the signup page. Then, Netflix is trying to get me to create a brand-new account because this is a streaming-only plan and apparently that requires an ENTIRELY SEPARATE ACCOUNT from my existing, 18-year-old streaming-and-DVD account. To try to make it work, I cancelled my DVD plan, but... it will apparently still be active until January 5th. So I guess I can either make a whole new account or wait to try again on January 6th, not that I have any idea how I'll find the Verizon page again at that point... Wish I'd never done this, frankly.

  • I am canceling Verizon next week for Mint Mobile. I didn’t see anything in the terms about having to maintain your Verizon service after initiating the subscription, so it is worth 25 bucks for a year of free Netflix, if it works.

    • The Disney+ bundle that's part of one of some of the Verizon unlimited plans does check that you have an active plan, and the billing changes if you cancel (or even vacation suspend) Verizon. No clue if this will be similar, and I've heard that not all stuff paid via Verizon act that way (e.g. Apple Music keeps going during a vacation suspension). Let us know!

  • Great deal. I know T-Mobile offers Netflix so it was nice to see Verizon offer something like this.

  • How long did it take for the pending activation for Netflix to go away? Already signed up my NFL+ account.

    • To answer my question, I just needed to link my Netflix by following these instructions from SD: "what worked for me was to go to my Account Overview on Verizon's website, then click on Subscriptions, and then click on Netflix, and then toggle the Off-On button, which then allowed me to link to my current Netflix account using my email address." Now it's active on Netflix's side, despite still showing the pending message on Verizon.

        • Took me 48 hours. Checked back, clicked the little toggle switch to "on," and it opened a link to Netflix.

I'm guessing part of my problem was being on VPN from another country. If it tries to open a link to US Netflix, then gets redirected to another country's Netflix, that breaks the flow.
