Virgin has announced that they are creating a new company called Virgin Group Loyalty Company (VGLC). This is a rewards program that will reward users across all Virgin brands/companies. The new program will launch in 2019 and will use Virgin Atlantic as it’s currency, it will be jointly owned by Virgin & Delta airlines. Virgin Red will be integrated into the new program. As of now the details are sparsed, by the new company is led by Andrew Swaffield who is the former head of Monarch Airlines and prior to that was the chief executive officer of the Avios rewards program.

Devaluation coming in 2019.
This is great news! Now I can finally book that suborbital spaceflight on Virgin Galactic and earn airline miles for all 250,000 feet of the climb to suborbital space.
Richard Branson might just let you do that for publicity!
I remember reading many years ago that they were going to allow people to use miles for the trip, but it had to be flown miles only and not from other sources :(
I was just about ready to shift 175K Amex MR points to Virgin and take advantage of the 30% bonus to use for ANA flights in 2019. Might need to rethink that. Suggestions?
Sounds like someone was reading the business pages (Aeroplan) and has seen another opportunity to make himself a billion dollars at the loss of all others.
Devaluation coming to those VS sweet spots?
Super sad news... I smell revenue-based redemptions writing on the wall. Goodbye ANA award sweet spot! :(
Definitely time to book that ANA award asap. 99.9% sure that's getting devalued with this new reward program.
I was literally thinking the same thing this morning when I read it. We're trying to book an ANA F redemption in early oct - hopefully this won't have any impacts on that (like a fun pre-devaluation in prep for the full one!)
devaluation is coming?
