[WA] Express Credit Union 9% CD On Up To $5,000

The Offer

Direct Link to offer

  • Residents of Washington state: in honor of Express Credit Union’s 90th Anniversary, they are offering a special Certificate of Deposit rate. From February 9 through December 9, on the 9th of each month when you open a new CD you’ll get 9% APY on balances up to $5,000.

Our Verdict

This is a good rate since you’ll earn $450 on the $5,000 which is a solid couple hundred dollars more than you’d otherwise earn. There is still the hassle of setting up a new membership with the credit union and dealing with a possible hard pull, etc. Let us know how it goes if you try.

  • @6 this is dead:
"Effective 9/11/2024 Express CU is no longer offering the Anniversary Promotional CD. We will honor applicants who applied prior to this date."

  • Can anyone post the funding link and highlights of the welcome letter with personal info x'd out?

Approval took 10 days as they are swamped. Used online app, uploaded requested docs and completed DocuSign. Finally able to create online account access but haven't received a welcome email or funding link. Nothing in spam for P1 (Outlook) or P2 (Gmail) either. Thanks in advance

    • I also have not received a funding link. Applied Sept 6. I suspect CC funding is dead since the CD promotion is also dead.

  • I applied last week and got approved. The funding link sent over actually only gives options of debit card or credit card. Wondering if anyone tried to fund by credit cards? Will it be considered as cash advance?

    • This week, three members of my household funded this CD with Chase credit cards. The credit card charges all posted today as “merchandise and services,” not cash advances.

  • I email'd them and I got back this response in regards to chex and hard pull.

We do not pull credit for membership qualifications. But we do run the ChexSystems report.

  • I took this deal a couple of months ago. Would have been easy but their systems were being updated so it was a bit slower and more hassle than necessary. Fortunately great customer service smoothed things over. If the required member savings is opened and funded a few days before the ninth they can open the special CD with just an email. They do pull Chex but don’t seem inquiry-sensitive.
