    • Receive a direct deposit within 60 days of account opening

The Fine Print

  • Your direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government. Person to Person payments (such a Zelle or Venmo) and microdeposits (any deposit under $5) are excluded.
  • The maximum payout during the promotional period is $ 500 per membership per annum. The promotion is subject to change with or without notice and may be discontinued at any time.
  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Avoiding Fees

Monthly Fees

No fee checking account has no monthly fees to worry about.

Early Account Termination Fee

I wasn’t able to find a fee schedule so unsure if there is any EATF.

  • Seems they only accept Spokane residents. I got rejected as I live in other WA area.

Here is the application beginning info:
Thank you for choosing Spokane City Credit Union. We welcome residents of the Spokane area. For new members only there is a $20 membership fee.

    • I had a call with them, they told me all WA state area should be included. However, there was some technical issue from their web side that my living area zip code was not accepted. Unfortunately, there was no guarantee when they could fix it. My WA zip code is still rejected today.

      • How did you try to open an account? The link above just has someone put your info and then they reached out to me via email. But there is no where to open an account online. I am waiting for their response. The address I gave is in Seattle to the person referring me but I have a Spokane P.O. Box, an address in Chattaroy (although it can’t receive mail) and one in CDA. Not sure if they will accept any of these.

    • Someone submitted my referral and I received an email telling me to apply online or in person. However, I was told that I would need to come in person to finish the application regardless. At this point they have none of my info and still require an in-presence element to the application. This is likely the same for all new applicants, or possibly my banker is just suspicious of me.

  • If some current member of this CU would like to refer me and doesn't mind sharing his/her first and last name, email and phone number, please email them to danchenfi@gmail.com and I will reply with my information to fill the refer form, thanks

  • On their website, it says, "There is a one-time $20.00 membership fee to join. A Membership Service Representative will contact you to finalize this application.". You probably DON'T expect this to be instant approval.
Also, what kind of CU would charge people $20? This sounds more like a donation than a deposit
