The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Walmart+ members are being offered six months of Paramount+ with showtime included.

Our Verdict

This enrolls you in auto renewing, so make sure to cancel (can’t cancel until the trial ends apparently). Normally Walmart+ includes Paramount+ Essential, this freebie gives you the following:

  • No ads (except live TV & a few shows)
  • SHOWTIME Originals, movies & sports
  • Your local live CBS station

I see essential only, i.e. ads and no showtime. Was this time limited offer?

There’s no way to cancel. I wouldn’t have signed up had I known that.

A lot of people are paid with Amex cards covering the fee.

Walmart’s in a unique situation, they use their brick & mortar store employees for some of the shipping. I’ve ordered stuff that was just put in a brown envelope at the local store and driven to my house by one of the employees, same as they do with grocery deliveries. That probably makes their shipping costs much lower on average than Amazon’s.

I hate this and this is why I’m thinking of using Target when I need items shipped. Walmart thinks that they’re being nice by delivering your items early and sometimes same day. But, when you mark items as ‘gift’, they will still sometimes leave your items at your door in a gray Walmart grocery bag. Aside from this being tacky, there are some items that I would want delivered in tamper-proof containers, especially since they partner w doordash for this svc…and I like items that haven’t been touched by everyone in the local store. I want it from the warehouse and delivered in a company vehicle, not a local doordasher’s car.

I also hate this because the driver probably expects a tip. I specifically chose shipping so I wouldn’t have to tip. If it’s routed through Doordash, the driver doesn’t know that it was Walmart.com that decided to fulfill the order locally and not the customer.

Jokes aside. You must be part of the 1st world problem, entitlement culture. You’ll fit in perfectly, if not already, in some US cities where WM employees are told NOT to stop shoplifters if they take items under a certain amount.

Instacart+ also offers Peacock Premium. Nothing new for Walmart+.
Walmart probably just copy whatever Instacart is doing

I think you have that backward, Instacart copied Walmart+ in offering a streaming service.

Peacock != Paramount. Peacock “Premium” also has ads so it’s not really premium.

I don’t think it harms people who already have showtime in any way whatsoever. Your life is exactly the same as it was before.

Good things happening to other people is ok.

I did and switched to essential. I think it has to expire first which will be next week. It harms my pockets because I only need showtime for a couple of months. No crying over spilled milk.

Sharing this info from the FAQ on the auto renewal:

Yes. Your Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscription will be auto-renewed after your offer period has ended. Your plan will auto-renew on a recurring basis of $6.49/month for monthly members & $64.99/year for annual members, plus applicable taxes. You’ll be charged on the same payment method that’s used for your Walmart+ membership & charged an initial, prorated fee to match your billing cycle with your Walmart+ billing cycle.
You’ll be able to opt out of auto-renewal at another time. Please check back later for details. Also, please note that if you opt out of auto-renewal, you’ll immediately lose access to SHOWTIME.

That last part is hilarious. It’s like they hate their customers.

“You’ll be able to opt out of auto-renewal at another time.”
Translation: “I don’t have time for this right now.”

“Please check back later for details.”
Translation: “Please stop bugging me”

“Also, please note that if you opt out of auto-renewal, you’ll immediately lose access to SHOWTIME.”
Translation: “you now what, f**k you”

As an existing member of Paramount Plus, I have to wait until my current subscription expires in 10 days. Not sure how long this offer is around. Interested if anyone finds out how to redeem this to an existing subscription.

I’m in the same boat. Just log out of your Paramount+ account and create a new one with a different email and it worked. Tip: add a period anywhere in your Gmail and it will still go into your same inbox, [email protected] is the same as [email protected]

This is a Walmart+ week offer, which is June 17-23. I don’t think it will be available in 10 days. (Change your W+ email address and get another Paramount+ acct?)

If it is an existing Paramount Plus account through Walmart+, you can just activate the offer in WalMart+ and it adds Showtime to the current subscription for free for 6 months.
