Update 8/7/19: I’ve seen a recent uptick about complaints regarding blog content so thought that this was worth repeating.
Readers often complain about the content on this site. More specifically one common complaint is that readers only want credit card or bank account posts. Generally we see more of these complaints during/after big sale events such as Black Friday or Prime Day as there are a lot more ‘deal posts’. This blog was originally set up to provide information on credit scores, then we expanded to credit cards then bank accounts and so on. I think it’s a natural evolution of the blog, but I also try to listen to readers to provide the best experience possible.
The Solution
Each category on this site now has it’s own individual RSS feed. This means that if you only want to see bank account or credit card posts, you can! Follow these steps:
- Choose an RSS feed reader. I personally use Feedly (it’s free)
- Add the categories you want. To do so get the category URL and add feed to the end, for example for credit cards the feed URL would be:Â https://www.doctorofcredit.com/category/credit-cards/feed. Here are some of the more common categories people will be interested in:
Adding new feeds on Feedly should be easy, just click add content in the lower left corner, then ‘publications & blogs’ and then enter the urls found above. You can find the URL for any category by clicking the green header on the home page.
Obviously this isn’t a perfect solution and readers will likely still see content they are not interested in, but it should help somewhat. We always try to write descriptive as possible titles to avoid wasting anybodies time. I personally don’t think it takes long to scroll through the titles each day to see what posts interest you, but at the same time this is obviously something that annoys readers so I am hoping this solution works for them. As always I/we are always open to constructive criticism on how to make this site better and I/we appreciate that sort of feedback. If there is anything else that could be changed/fixed (yes I know the site still looks awful) let us know in the comments.
