Our Verdict

Not worth it due to the hard pull, because of that I won’t be adding it to our best checking bonus list.

  • Messaged to check on my bonus but they sound very nonchalant.. "hello, some will be reach out, thank you". That's two weeks ago..

    • Just wanted to add it is nationwide since you can join ACC and the CU pays for membership

  • RE:"The $150 credit will be credited to the member’s checking account within 90 days of the end of the promotion on December 31, 2017."
    Anyone get the bonus yet?

  • Andrews FCU also has two branches in Burlington County NJ that are accessible to the public, plus a third branch within the limits of MDL (Maguire-Dix-Lakehurst) if you're in the military. Burlington County residents are eligible, and once one is a member, then the rest of their family should also be eligible.

Yes, they perform a hard pull, even for savings accounts for minors.

    • In May 2016 Andrews did a hard pull when I became a member.
My experience is many credit unions did a hard pull when I joined even if it's just to open a Savings account.

    • It's not limited to the DC area:
      https://www.andrewsfcu.org/join-andrews-federal-credit-union.html
"3. You are or wish to be a member of the American Consumer Council
Did you know that you can become a member of Andrews Federal even if you don’t live locally? How? By joining the American Consumer Council! The American Consumer Council (ACC) is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to consumer education, advocacy and financial literacy."

I was told via email by them that it's a SP on TU to join, NOT a HP:
"Thank you for your interest in Andrews Federal Credit Union. We only pull a soft inquiry when our members join Andrews. We pull that soft inquiry from Transunion.

If you decide to apply for a credit card and/or a line of credit, we will use the same credit pull for both products. In fact, we use the same credit report pull for any product that is applied for within a 90 day period after it is initially pulled. This excludes Mortgage related products."

I'm actually going to join this a.m., so I'll report back if it's a SP or HP.

Also, Will, are you no longer h/t'ing tips you get for bonuses?

  • I'm a member thanks to some certificate promos last year. I think they got me for a hard pull when first becoming a member, and I wonder if they necessarily would do that again when adding checking. I'll report back if I roll the dice.
