The Offer

  • Wawa is offering rewards members a free 16oz matcha beverage on 3/17

Our Verdict

Not a big Matcha fan and I can’t imagine the Wawa one is very good either, but free is free and I know some people love it.

  • Got coupon for 1x free can of True North each day until 5/31. Redeeming one unlocks another coupon for the following day. Yay Wawa

  • Just got mine. Quite good, actually. I got the plain matcha with almond milk. I’d recommend a whipped cream top for some sweetness, as they don’t add any sugar to the plain.

  • I am drinking mine now. I got the chai one with almond milk. Tastes like chai tea. A bit creamy, good sweetness.

  • I actually received my coupon for it today, 3/16/21. You can either use your app or print out a coupon for it. Expires 3/18/21.

  • So I’ve never heard of this but got my free offer. Can someone tell me what the consistency is ? Is it like a milkshake? Or is it a thinner drink? What ingredients are in it to give it that name? Like I said never heard of it, but willing to try.

    • Hi Penny, I've never heard of it either. So I went and tried it. It's a thin drink kind of like creamy iced tea. The guy behind the counter said it was made with chai tea. There are different options you can select when ordering it so the final consistency is up to you.

Sums up my feelings on it perfectly

      • Matcha is the best green tea. Its the stuff with a alot of antioxidants and health benefits. Starbucks also offers Matcha drinks. In Japan wow they are great. But the issue is that the Matcha they will give in WAWA or Starbucks is a tiny amount. Therefore not much health benefits. William may not be a fan but I doubt he got a good hot or cold Matcha tea like they make in Japan. Or sellers on Amazon sell Matcha. It is not bitter like regular green tea. It can be florescent green

  • Lol nothing says Matcha like the place known for Italian hoagies (at least in Philly area)

  • Matcha is tasty and has a similar taste as some of the more earthy styles of green teas. The problem is that places like Starbucks (and probably Wawa also) add so much sugar to it that it is unrecognizable (I love sweets but what Starbucks does is over the top; also I like eating my sweets not drinking them).

  • > I can’t imagine the Wawa is very good either

Everyone in the tristate area: I beg your pardon?

    • You not only misread Will's sentence but also misquoted it, which was about Wawa's matcha and NOT Wawa itself.

FYI, matcha isn't even on Wawa's regular menu, as it's a seasonal item, so most people have never tried it.
