The Offer

No direct link, must get the offer from a Wells Fargo ATM by using a non Wells Fargo debit card.

• Wells Fargo is offering a checking bonus of $100 when you complete one of the following requirements:
  • Complete ten debit card transactions [Read: How To Meet Minimum Debit & Credit Transaction Requirements]
  • Receive a direct deposit of $500 or more

The Fine Print

• Valid until April 15th, 2017
• Cannot be:
  • Current owner on a consumer checking account
  • A Wells Fargo team member
  • A recipient of a consumer checking bonus in the past 12 months
• All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Avoiding Fees

Monthly Fee

The Everyday Checking account comes with a $10 monthly fee. Get the fee waived with one of the following:

• 10 debit card purchases and/or payments each statement cycle from this checking account, OR
• Direct deposits totaling $500 or more each statement cycle, OR
• Maintain a $1,500 minimum daily balance, OR
• Link checking account to a Wells Fargo Campus ATM or Campus Debit Card

If you have a Wells mortgage, you might be able to get a higher-level account with no fees.

Early Account Termination Fee

There is no early account termination fee.

Our Verdict

There has been several $250 checking bonuses from Wells Fargo recently. You’d be better off waiting for one of those to return (hopefully) I imagine most readers have already signed up for a Wells Fargo account recently anyway. Because of those reasons I won’t be adding it to our list of the best bank account bonuses. Some people have been able to successfully get a second bonus without waiting the 12 month period, but YMMV.
