  • Do a Google search with the name of your fav bank + the search term “criminal activity” Citi fined $26 mil, JPMorgan Chase agrees to pay $920 million, Wells Fargo ordered to pay $3.7 billion, etc, etc. These are not ethical organizations. I say use ‘em for all the cash you can get, but know that you are dealing with skilled corrupt companies in an era of underfunded enforcement agencies.

  • I just got this card a month aga, and already finding it is not a good card or a good bank. I can make only 3 payments online a month. and then have to call and give them the checking information again, which takes more than half hour. I am not using this card any more. Back to chase and Capital one. terrible card. Why they only allow 4 online payments is beyond me. I never keep a balance and pay the card every two three days.

    • Many banks do this. Why are you paying off a credit card every 2-3 days? It's a credit risk for banks to allow this.

  • The new card launching "in 2024" isn't specific at all. Seems like Wells Fargo hasn't finished putting everything together. Given the rumors, I'd speculate that the Autograph vs Autograph Beyond will be much like Capital One SavorOne vs Savor. Ergo, not worthwhile long-term for most people.

  • Well, my only bad experiene with WF so far is on the Choice Hotels CC that I opened in June - the expected 90k points has been long over due and I had called them so many times - every time, they say choice hotels should issue the points, then choice hotels transfer me back - it's so frustrating and unbelivable! Anyone else having this problem?

    • Bad luck, sorry. I applied Choice cc few months back, got my 90k points when the statement closed. No need to do phone calls or other stuff.

    • Bad luck mate, I signed up for the Choice last month and received the 90K upon first statement closing

  • WF's $2500 Premiere Checking bonus was the largest and easiest bonus I've received in many years. And since I achieved it by transferring securities, not cash, it was all profit with no cost to me except for a couple hours of my time. I've also received their $325 checking bonus and a $200 bonus from their Active Cash Card, which also gives 2% cash back on purchases. That makes over $3000 in bonuses in this year alone. I've also found better shopping deals on the Active Cash card than I have on AMEX, Chase and other cards.
And I have had no problems with their brokerage account, credit card account, or bank account.

  • Where is the biz card? I'm holding off on churning the checking account so I can keep a relationship > 1 year

  • I read a lot of bad about WF. Someone opened an account in P2’s name without her consent so I believe it.

That said- Is there anything good/useful about their cards that makes it worth dealing with such a shady corporation?

    • Small balance waiver to some charity - or Microsoft/Apple for storage.

Than each card becomes permanent ballast for your credit score with no brainwork.

They also have good cell phone protection and the Choice Hotel card gives Gold status if that's your thing.

    • I can't speak about other people's bad experiences, but my wife and I have been doing WF sign-up bonus deals since 2020. We've opened and closed Checking & Savings accounts, credit card accounts many times and they always paid the bonuses on time. We don't have any loans or mortgages with WF. Never had any new accounts created without our authorization.

Their Autograph card gives $300 bonus for $1500 spent in 3 months. Their Savings account gives $525 bonus for keeping $25K for about 60+ days. Their Checking account gives $325 bonus for DDs totaling $1000+ in 90 days. All pretty good amounts and easy to do.

    • If you open a Chase credit card online with P2's name and get approved, is that Chase's fault? Or Wells Fargo's fault in this case? It is just sad that people just read the online garbage and bad mouth a bank where they get no experience at all.

      • Given that’s never happened with Chase but it happened to me with WF—and no other bank—it would seem WF has some shortcomings in verifying the identity of the person opening the account. Add WF’s well documented illegal account-opening actions and it seems like a bad bank.

Anyway, my question was, what is good about their cards?

And “bad mouth a bank where they get no experience at all?” That is my experience. How long have you worked for Wells Fargo, @guest_1750189 ?

        • I can open new CCs for P2, P3 etc with pretty much any bank. Same family and no problem at all. I've received CCs from both Cap1 and Citi that I never applied. But no issue at all with WF. CCs are just some finaicial tools. You can pretty much go with any bank that offers the best tool for you.

If you do not believe WF has any merit and those CCs are just trash, why bother reading this and reply? Does not make any sense at all.

Go with Chase who will just shut you down completely just because you use its Freedom card to buy $500 GC at grocery store to max the 5x quarterly category. Is that a crime? Why is Chase not fined for that crime?

          • I’ve never had any problems with Chase, and I’ve maxed out Freedom with 3x$505.95 several times.

      • I mean they were fined 3 billion dollars by the SEC for opening accounts without customer approval and ruining people's credit so I feel like Wells Fargo is probably deserving of some bad mouthing.

        • That incident was almost a decade ago. Since then, people like you have missed out on tens of thousands in SUBs, like the $1500 SUB from last year.

Feel free to skip those bonuses while you're busy circlejerking the "but Wells Fargo already opened an account for me" hacks.

        • The very fact that you are reading credit card from WF means something.... Keep bad mouthing. Why bother?
