Wells Fargo Propel World 40,000 Point Bonus Still Available In Branch & By Phone

We previously posted a rumor that the Wells Fargo Propel World would no longer be accepting new sign ups after March 31st, 2018. As pointed out by Milenomics and some readers this card and bonus still available by phone or in branch. The card is definitely worth considering because:

That means you should be able to get ~$500 in value with little fuss. You can view our full review of this card here. Keep in mind the 15/16 month rule does apply to this card.

  • Approved instantly after 17 minute phone call. Rep said he believed the card was "in the process of being phased out and replaced by the no AF Propel".

  • Don't apply if you have a credit history like me

Applied in branch but got denied with the following reason:
Ratio of credit bureau trades with a balance greater than zero (We look at the ratio of open and closed credit accounts that have a balance greater than zero in the last 6 months).

I think they can tell by my cc patterns with citi that it would be opened then straight to the sock drawer or closed.

Don't think they liked all my open/closing of accounts (and maybe 14 Inquiries and 17 opened accounts didn't help either :) )

  • Still available as of 1/9/2019, called 877.924.3604 and asked for World Propel by Amex. (They tried hard to sell me on the regular propel w/ no AF and 30k bonus). Confirmed bonus of 40k and $175 AF waived year 1.

P2 approved today and P3's (mom) app is pending.

        • Approved for this 1/29. Online disclosure states 40K points in offer, along with 0% APR for 12 months. Hard to believe they restrict this so much and you have to call in, basically means that just churners use it and people in the know which means the card can't be very profitable.

  • If you product change this card to another WF card, do you lose your earned points since your old card will be closed?

    • Thanks Charles! Great to know, will do the same. Also Alaska $100 GC worked for me last year.

  • Called today to apply. Was told the bonus is 30k after 3000 spending, same as the no annual fee version. And she did not even mention the airline credit.

      • I've HUCA 3 times now and all of the reps have said there is no bonus on the World, but 30k on the regular Propel.
One rep seemed especially competent and looked in multiple places for the bonus to no avail.

        • Same here. I got the card a couple months ago and just tried for my +1 unsuccessfully to find a bonus attached to the card.
