Will Chase Match The New Increased Signup Bonus Offers? (CSR – Yes, United – No)

If someone signs up for a credit card and the offer soon-after increases, some banks will match the better offer and increase your bonus upon request. Chase has been known to often do so, but not always. The easiest way to find out is by Secure Messaging and requesting a match.

We’ve seen recent signup bonus increases on the Chase Sapphire Preferred card and on many of the Chase United personal and business cards.

We’ve already seen a report of Chase being willing to match the 100,000 Sapphire Preferred signup offer. The report indicates they are matching signups since March 13th. (Apparently, though it’s only available for now in branches, they are already matching the offer if you signed up recently.) Multiple reports in the comments here confirm that Chase is matching the 100k Sapphire Preferred bonus. (1, 2)

Conversely, the reports we’ve seen on the United cards are not looking good; thus far they seem to be denying to match the new offer, even for those who signed up recently. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

  • Applied last week for the CSP with an in-app offer for 75k, the application hasn't been approved yet since I must provide the W7. Can I proceed with the application and then request the match when the new offer is published in April?

    • You can do that. Or even request before April, the match is already working based on the branch offer.

  • I signed up through a referral on 3/26/2025 with a link to the 60k points with $4k spend. Asked for the card to be expedited and received it two days later. I then sent a secure message requesting to match the new promo for 100k points for $5k spend. Got approved several days later.

    Thank you for contacting us.
We know how important it is for you to know your new account bonus offer on your Chase Sapphire Preferred Card and be able to receive them as soon as possible. I'm delighted to check this for you. With this, Michael, we reviewed your credit card account and confirmed that the offer you requested was 100,000 bonus points after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open.

Our records show that you have not met the new spend requirement yet. We'll post the original points to your account within 6 to 8 weeks from the date the spend was met. Once you meet the new spend requirement, please reply to this email to claim the offer.

You'll be eligible for the bonus as long as:
    - You haven't received a new Cardmember bonus on this type of account in the past 48 months.
    - Your account is open and not in default when we post the bonus.

hope this helps people who are waiting for the referral bonus to increase. I was able to do it with the current link and then requesting to match.

  • Signed up for the UA Explorer on 3/16 and got the card 3/24. SM Chase on 3/26 and was told no match for the "richer" offer

  • Approved for United Explorer on 3/8 with 65k bonus. Messaged Chase and they would not match the new bonus. "We apologize, but we cannot apply the new offer to
your account without the statement credit adjustment. The
original offer will remain." Not sure what the statement credit adjustment part means

  • I signed up for the Chase World of Hyatt literally 24 hours before they raised the SUB from 30,000 to 35,000. I sent a secure message and they would not honor it. Even after I met the spend, after a second email they still said no. A measly 5,000 points. Boy, that still stings when I think about the ridiculous of it.

  • I was approved a few days before this offer was announced.

Here's what they told me when I asked to be matched.

  • P2 was approved for the 50k United Explorer card 8 Feb.

Secure messaged Chase after the links went live this week and was rejected with this message:

    Hello P2,

    Thank you for contacting us.

We'll be glad to discuss on the Chase United® credit card.

Thank you for contacting us about the bonus offer on your account.

P2, we have accessed the account ending in 6969 and seen that the new offer you are requesting is not available for a richer offer so the original purchase* offer will remain.
